Guest guest
Ever since I had my TMJ surgery, I have had a problem with my facial muscles, especially under my checkbones. There is a constant low grade ache. As I chew or talk, the muscles rapidly become fatigues, and I have problems getting food into my mouth, biting my tongue or cheek and gradually start talking with my mouth closed. I had a terrible time at my last dental cleaning. Everything not only went into spasm (including the back of my neck) but I literally had to pry my mouth open with my fingers and hold it. I have also had muscle control problems with joints that have been most affected and longest. I think part of it is that you gradualy adapt at the beginning with muscles you wouldn't normally use then as the problem goes on this becomes more pronounced to the point that you actually have muscles working against each other or are using wrong combinations of muscles and it isn't working anymore. I have a similar problem in my lower back and hip area and my regular physio says I don't use the right muscles to walk. I felt this physo I recently saw for this was one step from accusing me I had to be faking the jaw problem or it was psychological because the exercises I have been doing haven't helped. I love it - what would work for a normal person or the symptoms aren't usual so rather than accept that and work with it, let's take the easy route for me and humiliating route for you - must be in your head. Needless to say,I live with it not him and I always think the psycho approach is crap and the ultimate cop-out when the problem obviously is a physical one. There is absolutely nothing for me to gain from having it. I don't usually mention it and do a good job of hiding it There was an article by Stefan ------- that I saw years ago on this topic and was wondering if anyone else had experiences or articles to share with me along these lines Thx a bunch Joyce
