Certificate Paramedic Program Announcement

University of Texas Health Science Center-San /Acadian Ambulance

Austin Paramedic Program

Thank you for your interest in the University of Texas Health Science

Center-San (UTHSCSA)/Acadian Ambulance Paramedic Program in

Austin Texas. UTHSCSA is a nationally accredited paramedic program

through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education

Programs (CAAHEP). Class will begin on August 16, 2010. The classroom

location will be at the Acadian Ambulance headquarters located at 4100

Ed Bluestein Blvd. in Austin. Applications will be accepted until July

16, 2010. You will be contacted on how to set up time to take the

pre-assessment exams required by UTHSCSA once you turn in your completed

application.

The cost of the course is $4300.00. A deposit of $1000 (check or money

order) payable to UTHSCSA and mailed to 4201 Medical Dr. Suite 120, San

, TX 78229 to secure a slot MUST accompany the application.

Each student will also be responsible for purchasing:

- Blue/black uniform pants

- FISDAP clinical fees

- Textbooks

- NREMT Advanced Practical/Written Testing fees

- State application fees for certification/licensure

You will be given more information on these once accepted into the

program.

The course schedule is a rotating schedule that allows most

professionals to continue to work and take classes. The rotating

schedule will start by holding class on Monday and Tuesday 0900 –

1600 for the first week and the following week class will be held on

Wednesday and Thursday 0900 – 1600. This pattern repeats throughout

the course.

Minimum Requirements for Entry:

· Basic EMT – National Registered or State Registered

· High School Diploma/G.E.D or college transcript.

· CPR – American Heart Association Healthcare Provider

card, ASHI, or Red Cross Professional Rescuer card

· Verification of immunization against: Tetanus, Diphtheria,

Mumps, Measles, and Rubella; Varicella or documented proof of chicken

pox; Hepatitis B (consists of a three dose series which can take several

months to complete); Hepatitis A is not required, but it is recommended.
