Guest guest
Hi all, I really should not be doing this right now, I have much better things to do, but then I suddenly felt like making a try... And thought some of you might be able to help. You see, I have an old great aunt (my dad's aunt) who was the last of our family to go to the US, probably late 60's or early 70's. She has been coming up here for visits regularly since then. At some point she became a widow and some years later re-married to a wonderful, sweet man who was a bit younger than her, I think (to be honest way nicer than her, to describe it, my dad just called her " the old bag " on the phone, he-he)... Probably around 1993 or something like that, she came her for the last time. She was then 86 yrs old, had started to be quite forgetful and loved her red wine. I can tell you, we got more than one good laugh!!! Later I learned that her husband had died. An aunt and uncle of mine kept contact with her all along. But suddenly she just disappeared. They have tried to find her, but no success. Her husband had a son, but she never had any kids. Since she had been starting to get forgetful etc. already the last we saw her, we think she may be in an institution, if she is still alive. As we talked about it while I visited my dad recently, I thought maybe a web search could lead to something? I had nothing but her name to start with, as well as her hubby's name. I could not believe my eyes when I actually found a person who can be her, only she had a middle initial that none of us recognize. But she might have had a name she never used in daily life, so all of us don't know about it or have forgot. The person I found is: Esther L. Fosse, CA, born 1907. The name, the state and the birth year does match. It is only the " L. " that is unknown. So it might be her. To get the address etc. I think I will have to enter a credit card number to get it. It is probably not that much. But before I do it, it may be an idea to try to check her name a bit better. It would be fun to surprise my aunt and uncle who have been trying to find her. So I won't call them to ask them about things just yet. I was thinking that maybe if I could find an obituary for her husband, that it would include her full name... But without knowing her exact address, or at least county, it is not easy. I have not found any page where I can search obituaries for the whole state on name without knowing the exact year he passed away. Do any of you know? His name was Alf Fosse. The page where I found the lady that may be her, was https://www.peopledata.com/query1_yahoo.php There's no doubt that my dad and others too would like to know at least if she is alive or dead. If we e.g. could find her at an institution, we could at least ask them to notify us when she passes away. She might be in a state now where she is not able to communicate with anybody. If she was that, I would think that she would have contacted my aunt. I think it is really odd too that his son, who I think is a reverend somewhere in Utah (Salt Lake City? That is where they used to live before they moved to California), did not notify the relatives here in Norway who he must have known that they kept in contact with, after all they regularly travelled to stay with my aunt and uncle here... Thanks! PS! I still have to pack etc. and leave for out of town tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to reply to mail until Sunday evening at the earliest...
