Guest guest
Hi everybody, I just wanted to whine a little I guess. I went to the eye doctor today because I've had some problems lately with distance and also with focusing. Everything just seems a little blurier. Well, I found out why. I guess I have the beginnings of cateracts in both eyes. The eye doctor told me that it's pretty common to begin this way, and my symptoms match the way it begins, such as having problems focusing and such. He is an opthalmologist, and a very good doctor and well respected, so I trust him completely. The bummer is, that he said it will be years before it gets to the point of surgery - which is a GOOD thing - BUT, I can expect to have numerous changes in my prescription between now and then. He also said I was a little young for this, but not extremely so. Here's the bad part - the new glasses cost me $330! And the frames were only $84. Boy, at that rate, if I need changes every few years (which he warned me could very well happen) I could be broke by then! He also said that my eyes look good in every other way, and do not show any of the EDS-related problems. He said he has 3 other patients that have EDS and none of us have the related problems. YEA! He did tell me, that when it gets close to the point of having surgery, that he will lean towards putting it off as long as possible, should it be to the point of 'being close' just because the EDS would put some risk to the surgery. Just thought I would mention it, as we've talked about eyes lately, and I would have never thought I would get them at 53. I was thinking more of the 60ish age. Oh well, live and learn. Hope all of you are well! Love Lana
