Guest guest
Hi everyone...Was released from medical incarceration around 3:30 p.m. today. I am home, yippee!, and going to get into my own little bed in my own little room, and snooze for a while. Here is what we found out: The little stomach pain that sent me to the doctors back in February, and which eluded everyone, so that with all the scans and scopes, etc. all they found was a previously undiscovered heart valve problem which required immediate attention. Hence, the hospitalization. In the course of my incarceration, they removed over 25 lbs. of fluid from my body. Very weird experience. But, if we can keep the fluid down, my heart will shrink somewhat and that will ease the overworked heart muscle. This is a good thing. While I was still incarcerated, the docs decided to take one more whack at finding the source of my abdominal pain, and the anemia that I was showing. My blood count was one third of normal for weeks, now. Anyhow, after a colonoscopy and and endoscopy yesterday morning, they found that I have a "significan" ulcer on the left side of my stomach. They called it a "silent" ulcer because I didn't have any of the classic symptoms, but it was bleeding away like a champ and causing my low blood count. So, I am now on a low sodium, high carafate (ulcer coating), diabetic diet (the diabetic part I have been on for years), instead of taking away one or two pills, they took away three and added seven. Now, I REALLY rattle when I walk. So, that is the latest. I do have congestive heart failure, but the severity of it will be determined by how much fluid I can avoid accumulating. I want to thank each and every one of you for your messages of love and support. I know it's what got me through all this jazz. Hugs for you all, Love, Mike

Guest guest
Momma Deanna, Whaddaya mean, you don't want me out of bed!?!?!? I got up yesterday morning and fixed my breakfast, collected all the recycling in the house and put it in the box where it is my youngest's job to take it out to the can. I planned, and made a huge macaroni salad, slow cooked some country style ribs, rested a little, sat up in the living room and read some, then got up and greeted my kids coming home, gave half the salad to the people who cared for my kids while I was gone, and since I can't have sodium now, gave them the canned ham I had been saving for a rainy day. LOL Stay in Bed? Not this puppy. I am following doctor's orders, resting every afternoon, trying to keep the ulcer happy so it will heal, so my blood count will come back up, so I will have the energy to take a little walk each day to help my circulation to keep the fluid off my body...and doesn't that sound like The House That Jack Built? LOL So, I am being good, just not staying in the bed. I had enough of that in the horsepistol, thank you very much. Hope you are mending, too, honey. I was worried about you all last week. Take care, Love, MM
