Guest guest
Hi!! My name is also, although many people call me Sandy. I am so relieved I have found people that are like me. I am 57 years old and have had lupus for over 20 years. I have had operations which left me with a foot of my intestines taken out, colostomy, reversal colostomy, infection after infection, etc. I have been on prednisone for the entire duration of my illness along with imuran and unable to get off of it. As soon as the doctor weans me down on the pred. I get another flare up. I get flares about every 2 months. I am unable to work and luckily have my pets, (a German Shepherd, a ie, and 2 canaries) that give me a reason to get up in the morning. I have 2 daughters who live in Pa. and are in the medical field but after being sick so long, I guess they are sick of having a mother who is so limited. So many days I can't get out of bed because I am so weak, I just cry and my shepherd listens and he gives me his paw and little Jessie, my scottie, sits on the floor patiently. I never thought a disease could be so devastating. I have gained 40 lbs. with the prednisone and have so many side effects, but without it I wouldn't be here to meet my new Lupie Friends!!! I am so happy I am not alone anymore. Goodnight, Sandy
