Guest guest
Within a month or so (it takes that long for it to kick in though going off it it doesn't take so long for the effects to moderate) look for less fatigue, less obvious rash if you've had rashes and less stiffness in the joints. 8-) Oh - you meant what BAD stuff can you be alert for? Well, the most worrying is vision problems over time - in rare instances there can be a loss of peripheral vision. It is recommended that you have a " visual field " exam by your ophthalmologist before you have been on it very long and every year or two thereafter. Other side effects reported and warned about on the label for my bottle says " Possible side effects: stomach upset and headache. Report changes in hearing or vision; bleeding; bruising. " The stomach upset is easily remedied by not taking it on an empty stomach and/or with acidic drinks - I was advised to drink milk to swallow it if it bothered my stomach (milk digests and turns to cheese quite quickly when you drink it and therefore coats the stomach lining). Guest guest
Hi , I have been on Plaquenil for about 2 months now and I really can't say I have had any side effects. However, I do know one of them is suppose to be a lack of appetite. I have noticed at times I am not really hungry but other than that it hasn't been too bad. They do say at first you may experience flu like symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea. I guess I have been fortunate but I don't know how it has been for others. Maybe it is the same for them also. I hope all goes well for you! Carol > Okgang - > I am starting Plaquenil for the first time. Guest guest
Hi ! I've been on Plaquenil for about 7 weeks and have seen the side effects diminish. But one rather embarrassing one at first was a lot of gas, blush! My advice is to make sure you don't eat really fibrous foods, like broccoli, before your dosage! I did have some broccoli with my meal before I took the Plaquenil and was tooting a symphony! Thank God I was at home!!! I did have a bit of nausea and appetite loss (which I still have), but the nausea is subsiding. Stick with it, because I've heard that Plaquenil works really well if you can take it and don't have a sensitivity to it. I've even met some ladies, though, who are willing to have a sensitivity rash for the benefits of Plaquenil. I'm starting to feel better -- I'm taking Plaquenil, Methotrexate injections and Celebrex. Best wishes! -Anne > Okgang - > I am starting Plaquenil for the first time. WHat can I expect as > side effects......Yikes! >
