Guest guest
Hello everybody I just have a couple of thoughts/questions that I've come across in some reading... Have any of you ever heard of or tried Guaifenesin treatment? I just got done reading a book called " What your doctor may NOT tell you about fibromyalgia " by Dr. St Amand and his theory is that fibromyalgia is a result of not enough energy being produced due to a phosphate retention which in turn leads to excess calcium being stored in our cells (the lumps and bumps of fm). His 'cure' is guaifenesin which somehow clears the cells of the phosphates which in turn gives the body more energy to get rid of the calcium deposits and then on to 'normal' functioning ... more energy, no pain. This sounded interesting but I'd never heard of it before and was just curious if any of you have any info or experience with it??? Also in the book he talks a bit about fm and hypoglycemia and fibroglycemia (both disorders combined) and was wondering if any of you have been diagnosed with both and what you do for it??? According to this book almost half of fm women also have hypoglycemia. Just wondering... Jen in Iowa
Guest guest
I am on it, and it works. You have to be careful of your exposure of Salycilates or it will block the guau such as the aloe in the blue stuff!. go to http://www.guaidoc.com. All the info is there. Good luck. Guest guest
Jen: I don't know about the Hypoglycemia connection with Guaifenesin but I have been on the Gua since January due to a horrible sinus infection and have found that it has increased my blood sugar levels by about 20 points. I am diabetic though. After the sinus infection cleared up the doctors decided to keep me on the Gua as it has helped with my asthma in reducing my congestion. Over the past 4 months I feel my pain levels have decreased a bit too. I don't know if it is because of the Gua or not but I will take whatever I can get! LOL Hope this makes sense and helps a bit.
