Guest guest
Hi.I have fibromyalgia and have had a sleep disorder since I was a child, sleeping for days or up to a week at a time, getting up only to drink and go to the bathroom. I was diagnosed with fibro in 1991. I have had mono at age 19. But I have also had 4 knee operations, and viral meningitus (spelling?). I felt like I had the flu and it never went away when I came " down " with fibro. I was able to find a good rhumatologist who gives me trigger point injections monthly. I some times get up to twenty injections. The medicine dose in each area is about 1 cc. Every third month I get cortizone. What I wanted to tell you about is Emla cream. I was at the skin doc and complained about my pain and that I couldn't get any more cortizone to help with the pain, and he gave me a rx for Emla cream. It is generally used for minor skin operations. It is put on thickly and covered with a patch three hours before surgery. It numbs the skin. I use it wherever my worst pain is when I just can't take it anymore. I cover it with gauze or a bandaid if I can, but if it is on a part of my body that is covered by clothes I just let my clothes cover the spot. Just remember to keep the air off of the area where the Emla cream is applied. I hope you can try this. It costs about 35 dollars a tube but it is worth every penny. I hope it works for all of you.
