Meg, Itching is a common reaction to sun exposure for us. How much Benadryl did you take? Call

a practical nurse, pharmacist, or your doctor and find out how much you can safely take and go ahead and do it. Then, take a cool shower or bath using cornstarch on your skin, then rinse it all

off. If you have any in the house, use Sarna Lotion every hour or so to cool the itching. If it is under

the skin, and unscratchable, like a lot of mine are, you need a stronger antihistamine like Allegra.

It will not make you sleepy like Benadryl, and works better on my itching.

Sunlight, or UV rays from any source are our worst enemies. They not only can redden the skin,

make us itch, and make us tired, they can also trigger a major lupus flare. It only takes as little as

five minutes of exposure without UV protection to trigger a flare in some patients. I happen to be

one of them. I wear sunscreen, spf 50, treated natural fabrics with long sleeves, and hats. And, I

still get some reaction if I'm out too long. So, please, honey, don't do that again.

Hope the hints help. The other thing you can try is witch hazel on your skin, or OTC steroid creams.

Gentle hugs, MM

Hi everyone

Has anyone ever experienced an intense all over your body itching? I

was stupid and went out in the sun today for about an hour. Of course

I am burned but I am going to rip my limbs off if they dont stop

itching. Ive been burned many times before , several times seriously,

and never experienced this. I took Benedryl but its not doing

anything. Is this something to go to the ER for?

Please help...thanks

I would think my " hives combo " would work for that. For mild hives,I

take Allegra in the AM, Benedryl or Zyrtec at night. Also take

Zantac - it is a histimine blocker as well. Of course you should

clear all this with your doc/pharmacist, but this is what I take for

mild hives. The major ones take Cyclosporin treatment - bad stuff!!

Good luck!

thanks a!

Hopefully it will stop soon or I will just have to become an armless,

legless woman. Sorry but I have to make myself think funny things or

I will really be loony!
