Hi a,

I know you already got the responses you asked for but, I can't resist

adding to the advice. I went to Australia two years ago. I carried the

same information Joanne recommended. I did not carry a letter about my

prescriptions. I found Australian customs (in Sydney) to be very

relaxed. The main thing they care about is importation of plants or

animals. I also researched which hospital in Sydney was a liver

transplant center so that if I had cholangitis or some other emergency I

would be sure to go where they knew what PSC was. I also carried a

letter from my doctor that said I had PSC and might need an ERCP.

One other point. Australia has national health care but they require

foreigners to pay for their care. I confirmed with my American insurer

that they would cover emergency medical care in Australia. Luckily I

made it through without needing a doctor. Since you are in Italy I

assume you are covered under Italy's healthcare system. You might want

to check out if your emergency cost will be paid if you need medical

services in Australia.
