Well, here's my long story. Back in Jan. of this year, I got the

flu. I coughed severely for 6 weeks. Then as I was getting over the

cough, I went and lifted a piece of furniture that was WAY too heavy

for me(I know, it was stupid of me), and I started experiencing pain

in my upper back and chest. My docor (back then) diagnosed me with

costochondritis(swelling and inflamation of the joints in the upper

ribs). Over time, that pain lessened, but never went away

completely.

Now, fast forward to the last 3-1/2 weeks. I've had an almost

constant headache(in my eyes and temples) and " unexplained " pain

pretty much throughout my body for just about as long. Even my

hands, fingers, and feet hurt intermittently. The doctor

did a blood test(and a sinus x-ray to rule out infection-normal) and

it showed my white blood cell count to be normal, no inflamation, and

pretty much all body functions normal. So...the doctor suggested it

might be Fibromyalgia. It could also be other things, but that's one

of the things she suggested.

I'm hoping that this isn't what I have, but I'm stumped(and so is my

doctor). Could Fibromyagia be triggered by illness or injury, as in

my case?

Could some of you tell me what kind of symptoms you've had?

All I know, is that this throbbing, aching pain is really getting to

me. My doctor just put me on Naproxen on the 17th, but thus far, I

haven't seen any improvement. All I've been doing lately is praying

and crying because I just don't know what's wrong with me. My

husband feels so bad, and my 3 kids don't understand why I just lay

on the couch hurting. I've been so short-tempered with them, and I

feel really guilty.

Anyway, thanks for reading this. Please respond when you can. I'd

really appreciate it.

God bless,

le

le,

Welcome, I just joined this site but have had FM/CFIDS for about 14 years.

You will find alot of helpful people and info here.

Most of the books that I have read and most Doc's believes that FM/CFIDs can be

triggered by an accident, injury , or trauma ( including emotional trauma). But,

I believe the jury is still out on this.

Good luck. It sounds like you have caught it early - which may be beneficial in

controlling it.

Gentle Hugs

Welcome to the group!

In my case I had severe trauma to my body. Back in Jan. 2000 I had a sever

sprain in my right shoulder and my upper back (at the time the quack I was

seeing told me it would heal). Then in March of the same year I had a car

accident (the same quack told me I'd never be 100% again. No kidding!. Since

then I've had cronic pain all over. In Dec. 2000 I was diagnosed with fibro.

Last week I started seeing a chiropractor and I am on wellbutrin. Before now I

wasn't taking anything for my fibro. My family doctor is really a good doctor.

Well, I wanted to let you know how my fibro came about. =-)

Hi Cindy here and last september I started having no energy and my

joints were aching and I had a hard time moving around because of

chest pains and hard time breathing. Well finally in november my

doctor found out I had strep in my blood and it was attacking my

whole body. Well when the antibiotics got rid of the strep I was

left with fybromyalgia. In the last few months though I recognize

these feelings and and pains from other times in my life. So I don't

believe the strep caused the fybro but boy did it ever kick the fibro

in to high gear. But you are in the right place the postings I

recieve each day in my e-mail has helped me realize I am not crazy

and it is not all in my head and if anything it seems that God has

picked people with good souls to be in this fibro club. I send alot

of what I read to my family and friends and they are beginning to

understand a little more about me and my new companion

fybromyalgia. So Hugs and stick around it really helps, Cindy
