Guest guest
FWIW, having catechoalamines tested is good. HypoT depletesa them horribly. These are your neuro-transmitters: dopamine, serotonin, nor-and epinephrine, etc. IMHO, get hardcopy fromt he bloodwork, smile, play nice and see if there are any useful prescriptions written, then RUN to another doc. Not sure if that was sarcasm or not since I'm new , but hypoT will enlarge your thyroid even w/o nodules. Cheers, Friday > I have never met a more conceited proud egotistical person in my life!! > He told me I've been reading too much!! LOL He doesn't want me to know anything about my own body, just leave it up to 'us doctors who have all the education'!! Ya, right!!!! > > Anyway, I have an enlarged thyroid but he could feel no nodules. I will have a sonogram on Thursday. > He also wants me to have some more bloodwork... here's the list... > calcitonin, catecholanines, cbc, complete metabolic panel, HIAA 5- Urine, Prolactin, Thyroglobulin AB, TSH, Urinalysis. > > He told me that he was not interested in my symptoms, I could tell that he was thinking it's all in my head!! > He also told me he wants me on Estrogen and to throw out the natural progesterone cream. Ya, right! > I told him I wanted to use natural things to help heal and help my body... he told me I was in the wrong place!! lol I knew that the moment he opened his mouth the first time!! lol > > So, I will have the bloodwork and sonogram, get the results and find another dr. > > What could be causing the swelling of the thyroid? > I am SO irritated with that doctor... it just ruined my whole day! > GGGRRRRRRRRR!!! > Diona > > >
Guest guest
I actually have a pretty good endo. She diagnosed me and wrote for me with low-normal labs.n (TSH 2.1/FT3 2.9/FT4 1.3) She didn't need any convincing at ALL that I was hypoT. I could tell she was going to treat me just by how she walked into the room. Of course it might have helped that I couldn't stay awake in the waiting room.... She uses Armour and prefers it unless the patient is a vegan. She has a compounding pharmacy, too. She's a bit slow and conservative with raising meds (so far), but she does accept BBTs as evidence both of hypoT and of needing an increase, so we'll see how that part plays out. She started me on 1 grain and asked for restest in 3 months. I called at 5 weeks feeling better, but very uneven, saying my BBTs hadn't budged. She asked me to wait til the 8-week mark, then call in with BBTs and she'd raise me then if there was no change. She's probably worth adding to the list. Martha , Endocrinology/Women's Health Martha , M.D., MPH 116 North Brent Street, Ventura, CA 93003 . She only treats women, and only thyroid, menopause and osteoporosis. Another good one out here is Dr. Rouzier on Tahquitz in Palm Springs. http://www.hormonedoctor.com/drrouzier.htm His rates are surprisingly reasonable. $120 for a thyroid related office visit and $50 for the thyroid lab panel. If you want hormones plus thyroid, he does a 'retainer' type thing: $800 covers your sessions for a full year, incl. phone and email contact whenever you want. Labs cost extra, but consults and adjustments can be done by email/fax/phone. Cheers, Friday > Diona.. hate to say it , but we've told everyone on this list that Endos are the WORST thyroid doctors to go to! I USED to be Miss Mild Manners till I went to an Endo that totally Pi$$ed me off. Said I didn;t need thyroid hormones at all, I just need to shut my mouth and exercise and I would be fine. That was a LONG time ago, today if one treated me like that I would probably slap him, but I am better now! LOL You got the right idea. Take what he has to offer with a grain of salt and hunt a better doctor for your real treatment. My best doctor is ME. > *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV > Fat cat? Diabetes?
