Guest guest
Hi, I see that a lot of people mention their hepatoligist. Does everyone see a hepatologist, even when first diagnosed? I was just diagnosed with PSC a few weeks ago and have since just had one visit with my GI doctor who I was already seeing for my colitis. He started me on Urso and I definitely think the increased fat digestion is helping with diahreaha. Karla 30yo
Guest guest
When I was first diagnosed. When my labs were returned to my GI liver enzymes were elevated. He referred me to a hep after an ERCP. Guest guest
I saw a hepatologist every 3 months for the first couple of years after diagnosis. I see his PA now (asymptomatic) twice a year. Arne karlitarenee wrote: Hi, I see that a lot of people mention their hepatoligist...

He said that he wanted me to be known by the transplant team long before I was in need of a transplant. I have recently moved to a new city, and I am looking for a hepatologist, not a GI. Because PSC is an uncommon disease, I feel more comfortable under the care of a specialist. I also think a hepatologist is more likely to be aware of the latest research. Guest guest
Hi Debbie: I live in the Atlanta area also. I've got a referral for a hep named Spivey at Piedmont, but I have not gone to see him yet. C. >> Hi,> I see that a lot of people mention their hepatoligist. Guest guest
Does anyone have a recommendation on a search tool for finding a hepatologist? From what I can tell, they are geographically thin and usually located only at major medical centers/medical schools. I've only seen a Hepatologist a few times while I was at Mayo Clinic for my J-pouch surgeries, and locally see my GI who has treated me for the last 16 years with my UC. I have a great relationship with my local GI and I trust him - but I am also realizing that there are limitations to his expertise here and I'm thinking I should also be seen by a hepatologist. I can always go back to my GI if I need an ERCP since he performs these.... Rick > > > > My son usually sees his GI regarding his UC and PSC.
