Guest guest
Need some urgent advice please I am switching from Levoxyl to Armour. From Seeing doctor lin my original conversion chart was to increase my Armour every 7 to 10 days ½ a grain but Dr lin said 5 day is ok. From the conversion chart beow I am now taking for the second day 2.5 grains of Armour. I feel like crying and feel very down. I also feel in outer space or not in tune with my wife. I get shakiness/Anxiety that goes and comes and don't know if its because I am hypo or is it because I am converting too fast. I took an adrenals test but the results wont come out until March 9th. I did feel good the first five days of taking Armour. I don't know what to do. Does anyone have any suggestions/Advice? Days Levoxyl Armour Low High 5 days 125 1 199 226 5 days 100 1.5 211 251.5 5 days 25 2 173 227 5 days 0 2.5 185 252.5 (CURRENTLY HERE) 5 days 0 3 222 303 Thanks
Guest guest
So in fifteen days or two weeks you have added in 22.5 MCG of T3? THAT is enough to make anyone shaky feeling. Anxiety yes! I would say you are adding in the Armour too fast. Most people do best with 2-3 week increases as the T3 is the big factor you are changing and it takes your body at least a week or two to adjust to new amounts of it. I would back up to your last dose that felt OK and hold at that dose for a couple more weeks then increase by 1/2 grain. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Thanks<< Antidepressants notoriously do not help hypo folks, just a little patience is needed to allow your body to heal enough for the thyroid to work.It took me almost 6 years to get where I am today on my thyroid dose and I am the happiest camper I know! Hang in there. The only time I would consider antidepressants is if you are feeling suicidal. Then seek help here or someplace, but seek help. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
No they don't work as well as on people who need them because the damn depression is primary as opposed to a symptom of hypothyroid. I will say they kept me on more an even keel, but I wouldn't say they kept me from being depressed... I still had the mood problems and ups and downs... just not as severe. The thyroid meds really made all the difference... I have to say, the synthroid did help my mental state, just not my physical... how's that? Hoping the armour will take care of both. Guest guest
It took me almost a year to increase from 1/4 grain to 2 1/2, and I am still slowly increasing. I had horrible problems with quick increases. , I agree that you have introduced way too much T3 for the body to acclamate to. Don't panic. Personally, if I were you, I would drop your original dose of T4 only meds, and gradually add in the Armour (dropping, adding, dropping adding). That's just me however. Good luck! > So in fifteen days or two weeks you have added in 22.5 MCG of T3? THAT is enough to make anyone shaky feeling. Anxiety yes! I would say you are adding in the Armour too fast. Guest guest
Thanks All for your support! I really appreciate everyone input and advice. My action now is to go back to 1.5 grains and 100 levoxyl for a while and then increase it slowly. Thanks again...I thought my symptoms are from low adrenals but from everyone's writing I was ramping up too fast. Thanks again > In a message dated 2/26/2005 6:42:46 PM Eastern Standard Time, > alyce13j@y... writes: > > > The thyroid meds really made all the difference... Guest guest
, I switched from Synthroid about 8 weeks ago and have been feeling a bit sensitive since. (mood swings, easy to cry). I have also been having severe memory issues, while on synthroid. At 8 weeks the sensitivity is lessening for me. My approach was to stay the course, reduce meds temporarily and increase over time (up to 3 grains 2-3 weeks, over 4-6 week increase timeframe - Maybe longer for us!). (that is what I have been told by the succesfuly vets on this board) I have been watching many boards for over 2 years, Armour is better for many. (I also worked for Abbott Labs who purchased Synthroid from BASF (Knoll Pharmacueticals) in 2002, the product had many issues... Guest guest
This sounds like exactly what happened to me when I first started Armour. These are classic adrenal symptoms, but I went through a summer of hell before I figured it out (and found a doctor that would listen). I would be very careful, and unfortunately I wouldn't increase the Armour any more either. In fact, I think a half grain every 5 days is way too fast, and could stress even adrenals that weren't already fatigued. I know it isn't what you want to hear, because you want to hurry up and feel better, but (at least according to some) you are risking permanent damage to your adrenals if you keep pushing them by increasing that fast. If it were me, I'd at least stop at 2 1/2 grains for 3 or 4 weeks, and if your shakiness and anxiety keep getting worse I'd consider cutting back to 2 1/4 or 2 grains until you figure out what's going on. Even with no adrenal symptoms, when you get close to 3 grains you need to start increasing by 1/4 grains every 3 or 4 weeks. Hopefully others will chime in with their advice too, in case I'm off base. HTH! -- prr " f_kalkattawi " f_kalkattawi@... wrote: Need some urgent advice please I am switching from Levoxyl to Armour.
