Guest guest
Well, it's true in a sense. Iodine is a component of thyroid hormones. 3-5-diiodothyronine is T2, named because there are iodine molecules attached at the three and five positions. If you wanted to get specifics about how much T3, T4 ets is in it, you're probably going to have to ask more specific questions. The answer you got is akin to asking what's in mineral water and being told " hydrogen and oxygen. " Porcine, of course, means it comes from pigs. Cheers, Friday > > What do you make of this? I wrote to one of the places who sell thyroid-s asking about the ingredients. I got this response: > Dear Alyce > > 1. Thyroid-S is porcine. > 2. Thyroid-S has Iodine 0.2% USP, thus 60mg tablet will have Iodine 0.12mg. You can compare percentage of Iodine between Armour and Thyroid-S. Guest guest
They are just telling how much thyroid is in the medication. One way to measure thyroid hormone in natural thyroid is to measure the amount of Iodine in it. Since T4 has 4 iodine molecules attached and T3 has 3 iodine molecules attached, measuring Iodine can tell you how much thyroid hormone is in there. The problem with measuring only iodine is that sometimes the thyroid hormone can be damaged and the iodine will still be there, but the thyroid is no good. This rarely happens today, because more care is used in processing. But, they did not tell you anything about pill binders. Thyroid-S pills are so tiny, that I don't think they have many binders. They do have some wierd bark flavored coating. Tish
