Guest guest
Hurray I'm so glad you are back and that you had a good time. The falling thing has go stop though. I mean, gee whiz, wasn't the 4th enough? I'll bet once you get all rested up you will be really looking forward to the next trip. Glad to hear from you and by now you are probably rested. LOL I've been gone a lot. barb __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Barb, I noticed you've been gone a lot, and I miss you. However, I hope it was for something good, and not something bad or sad. We did have a good time, although, as expected, the boys did balk at some of the chores around camp, as I knew they would. Can't be perfect, but it sure was a joy to hear the rangers talk about what great kids I have. For me, they are number 1 brats, but at least for others they are good. That's a relief. I am tired, but more from unloading and putting stuff away than camping itself. The work involved in packing to go and unpacking when you come home is the part I really don't like. If we had a little cabin somewhere so I could just bring food, clothes, and a few things each trip, that would be great, but to have to take our housing, water, wood, etc. with us each time is a royal pain in the derriere. But, each time, I think it's worth all the work because we get away from everything and everyone, and just enjoy the ocean and woods, and if we want to see people we can always ride or walk into a little village nearby and get a "people fix", or visit friends in the area. ly, I think I must be a throwback to my ancestors who came across the prairies in covered wagons. I used to listen by the hour to my great aunt Grace, who came as a child with my grandfather (He was the eldest child) in a covered wagon across the prairies from Ohio in the 1880's, like Ingalls Wilder's family did. Grace had some harrowing stories to tell, as well as some very heartwrending ones. They were put into a book about the Oregon Trail, and each of us girls has a copy of our own. The authors, and an artist and photographer got together and interviewed the surviving pioneers from that period on the trail, and Aunt Grace has five stories in the book just for her. Don't know what got me started on all that, but anyway, I LOVE to camp. LOL Hugs, MM
