Guest guest
I am sure the 30 mg " up " helped me yesterday. I am taking two 30 mg morning and two more mid aftrnoon. (total of 120) I added one more 30 mg early afternoon, and I think it helped. More energy. Nothing to dance and shout about, but it felt like an improvemnet! Had a migraine in the middle of the night, but cant be sure its from the meds. Ill keep on this new addition, and then time will tell more. Thanks for all your opinions and advice! It helps me (Note:I tried to take the armour four times a day a few weeks ago, and it just didnt work for me. Not enough at one time I think.) Guest guest
Just a comment here. The headache is probably a low adrenal issue. One thing people don't consider when they split up pills into a bunch of doses in the day, is that they are just dosing for the daytime and at night, they have 8 hours of nothing. So, you are getting most of the 120 mg just in the daytime. By night time, you aren't dosing 3 or 4 times for that. But, the body actually needs a little more thyroid at night than in the day. By dosing mostly for your day and not considering your needs for the night, you can sometimes make yourself more tired by dropping too low on thyroid levels at night. It's hard on the adrenals and the body to not get what it needs at night when it needs to do repair and maintenance. So, my advice is to increase your evening dose so that it is closer to 1/2 or 1/3 of your daly total. Tish

Guest guest
I believe it came from Werner and Ingbar's the Thyroid. There was a section in there on a study they had done looking at TSH levels in normal people and they found that TSH went up in the night and investigated further and came to the conclusion that more thyroid was needed at night. I have an old Werver in Ingbars I bought for $3.00. I will see if I can find it again. I couldn't tolerate thyroid due to my adrenal problems and ended up dosing every 2 hours in the day, but did not take the same amount for the night. I had the trouble that you are talking about with waking in the night and getting really aching miscles after 2:00 in the morning. I was only getting about 6 hours sleep and it was not good sleep. One night I woke miserable and uable to sleep and out of despiration tried some thyroid and I went back to sleep. Later, I kind of figured that my muscles were aching from lack of sufficient oxygen from lowered metabolic rate. Anyway, when I changed to dose equally for the night as for the day, the muscle thing cleared up and my sleep really improved. Now, I take slightly more thyroid at night than for the day and this seems to work out well and get me an 8 hour night most nights. But, I'm sure people can run on T4 in the night if the T3 has been used up in the day. But, I just was suprised by my own situation and how big a difference it made to dose at night equal to my daytime dose. My overall dose was too low, because I was dosing to feel good in the day, but ignoring the night and my body needs the same energy or more at night.
