Our office received the following public information request. Mr. asked

me to forward it to you all for your comments. He would be greatly appreciative

if you can carbon copy him directly at ellis84@... on any response you make

to his query. He would like both technical information and anecdotal

information about difficulties you have encountered in conducting outreach to

and other activities with workers who live on their employers' property.

Please forward to the general counsel:

I am doing research for the Bureau of the Census on state or federal laws

that may deny Census workers access to certain premises. Do you know of laws

(or perhaps customs) in the U.S. that would bar Census counters from certain

migrant labor sites, dormitories, camps, changing rooms, etc.? Are there any

laws that might guarantee their rights of access to private property for

collecting Census data?
