Guest guest
Hate to tell you this but I believe it is true. Alot of meds can interfere with vitamins. Even smoking can deplete vitamin C. I would think if you take a good vitamin/mineral supplement you should be okay though. Maybe you should ask your doctor. Still, it couldn't hurt to ask your doctor, and if you want reassurance in the meantime, why don't you call a different store's pharmacists? I just went and checked a package of a brand I had, but don't take (use to take it and the doctor's office gave me samples of it instead of what I usually take) any more. It says absolutely nothing about needing to take extra vitamins or that bc pills can deplete your daily levels. That was the Miracette brand. I'd call a few pharmacists and see what they have to say. Guest guest
Hi Mareth, That's what kind of pills I'm on, but this is the first I've heard about the vitamin thing. I get mine at Drug Emporium tho, not CVS. If you find out anything, I'd appreciate knowing. Has anyone else been told about this? I know this is kinda off-topic, but since so many of us with Fibro use vitamin supplements as part of our treatment, I thought I'd bring this up. When I went to CVS and picked up my birth control pills, there was a little flyer attached to the bag (like always). This is what it says: " Research has shown that usage of this medication [Lo/Ovral-28] can cause losses of certain important nutrients. I also posted that info about nutrient loss on another e-list and one of the ladies said that her gyno had mentioned to her that the BC pills do, in fact, inhibit absorption of some nutrients. The doc told her that she should make sure that she takes her vitamin supplements a few hours before or after she takes her BC; there will still be some nutrients lost, but the effect will be lessened. I'll let you know if I hear anything else. -Mareth ~*~*~*~*~*~ The greatest achievement of the human spirit is to live up to one's opportunities, and to make the most of one's resources. -- Vauvenargues _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
