Guest guest
Hi Dee,Thank you so much for your e-mail. Reading it made me teary and gave me chills. It is so wonderful to know how much people care. People who we have never met. Ron just had his labs done and I sure hope the coordinator calls us earlier than she usually does. has to receive the result from Carle Clinic and then I'm sure she has to go over them with the docs so the waiting time for us is significant. Your invitation is so generous. We come to Peoria from time to time and if I get to "a point of no return" I'll give you a call. Being a care giver can be tiring, but what my husband has gone through and is going through pales in comparison. I'm saving your e-mail for future reference and will keep you posted on what's happening. I sure wish Champaign-Urbana had support place like you do.How is your husband doing? Is he listed for transplant? If I can be of help please let me know. Guest guest
Judy, My transplant center is Northwestern Memorial in Chicago. Whenever they write orders for Labs, they ask that they be done STAT and that the patient gets a copy of the results. Most Labs have STAT results within an hour. I go to the Medical Records department after I get my Labs done and sign a Release of Information form and wait for my results. I may not be able to read them like a physician, but I can see trends and be prepared to talk about the results when the transplant center calls or in the case of extremes, I can call them and be proactive. Most Labs will only fax results at certain times each day. The hospital I go to faxes their results at 2:00 pm, unless there are critical values. If there are critical values the Lab calls the doctor immediately. Anyone can get copies of their Lab results by signing a release. It may cost a little bit – under $1 per page. Most Labs will consider this continuing medical care and give them to you.
