Guest guest
Jen, I have chemical sensitivities as well. Oh, let's be honest, they are allergies. you're lucky that you just react on your skin. Perfumes, colognes, chemicals, paints, can cause an anaphylactic reaction in me. Of course, so can cottonwood, molds, blah, blah, blah. So far, I've been lucky, in that my throat hasn't ever swollen shut completely. Which is a good thing, since my doctor says the epinephrine kits for anaphylactic shock are only for bee stings. ??? So I carry benedryl everywhere. I also get hives, and react strongly to all insect and spider bites. I should live in a bubble. As far as I'm concerned, this is the worst thing I have going on. I wish I could get rid of this. Take care,

Guest guest
I cannot tell you how happy I am that I finally joined this group!! I thought all my allergies were just inherited! I'm allergic to all sorts of insects, even the ones that are supposed to be safe. Medicines, you name it and I'm probably allergic to it. When I go to the emergency room for my spasms, it usually takes the Doc more time to figure out what meds to give me than it did to examine me. Perfumes, certian foods, detergents, and on and on and on. Since I haven't been able to find a doctor who will help me, at least through this list I know that my problems are associated with my condition and not just 'in my head'. Guest guest
Jen, I have trouble with my hands and my doctor told me that it was eczema. It was the palms of my one hand and all of my fingers. Another trouble that I have is the pads of my fingers splitting open. I have salve for all of these but they don't seem to help much. Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman

Guest guest
Along with fibro my chemical sensitivities are pretty severe; in fact I just bought a new car and after " airing " it out for two months I finally sold it. Two years ago I seemed to go through a total breakdown, severe anxiety, start of severe chemical sensitivities and fibro getting progressively worse. My chemical sensitivities have just slightly calmed down but still can't take an aspirin or be around household chemicals. Rik > Do any of you suffer from reactions to chemicals in cleaners or juices from food? How do you deal with it? I have some lotion to use daily and then some ointment to use for outbreaks but is there anything else out there to keep it from happening in the first place? Are there ANY kind of meds or anything to keep the 'allergies' from occurring at all? I hate having to wear gloves (two sets actually...cotton and then either latex for cooking or the yellow rubber gloves for cleaning) every time I cook or clean. > This was one thing that completely amazed me as being related to fibro as I had this problem before I got my fibro diagnosis and then read in several books that they often go together. And my migraines and my dizziness and my forgetfulness and clumsiness and of course the brainfog. My 8 year old daughter finds me to be a great source of amusement and entertainment at times and I must admit half of the time I am quite funny. At least I know I'm not just losing my mind...there's a reason for all of it. It's funny though...everything else has been building for years, including the degree of pain, but the chemical sensitivities just came on all of a sudden about a year ago. I hadn't changed anything in my cooking or cleaning habits and all of a sudden my body turns on me and decides it doesn't like all of this stuff anymore And it's only my hands (and more specifically my index finger on my right hand...the dominant one of course) that I have these problems with. This fibro stuff makes NO sense whatsoever and it stinks bigtime. > Sorry for rambling...just having a little flare in pain and a breakout on my hand again and wishing I could just have ONE day with NO problems > Thanks for listening... > Jen in Iowa > > >

Guest guest
Pati, Eczema is actually a symptom of allergies, it also goes hand in hand with asthma. What a strange tangled web of problems we seem to suffer with. On a brighter note, I am happy I have found this board, because it is helpful to me to read I am not the only one who has a ton of symptoms that sometimes makes me wonder WHY ME? Then I read what others are going through, and know I am not as bad off as I thought, and I am not alone. Thanks to all for all that you do. > Jen, I have trouble with my hands and my doctor told me that it was eczema. > It was the palms of my one hand and all of my fingers.
