Ami's question (attached below) is something I have wondered about, but couldn't figure out how to word it so it would make sense. If immunosuppresents keep us from reacting to foreign tissue, do they keep us from reacting to pathogens like a normal person would? Do we need a higher bacteria load to spike a fever, or start to get a runny nose or cough (all reactions of a healthy immune system to fight bacteria). I had my tx 6 years ago and haven't notice a problem, but I still limit my exposure to school age kids with all their germs and I don't find myself in crowds if I can avoid it, and I wash my hands a lot. Has this been an issue for anyone?

Now the question: the doctor asked me this: "Since being on his immunosuppressants, does show symptoms when he's sick?"

This question has now put me into a new state of paranoia!!!!! I mean, I know that the immunosuppressed system has a harder time creating a fever, therefore the lower fever "threshold". But is it possible for them to have a harder time showing symptoms of an illness, also? has never been "normal" on being symptomatic with things. Not having symptoms until things are a ways in, things going from nothing to really bad in a short time, etc. (Negative strep test to full scarlet fever in 3 days time, hand foot and mouth blisters for 4 weeks, junk like that.)

Anybody? Anybody?

Jeez, this kid makes me crazy!!!
