It's Dr. Dykes in Durham, NC.

He is a holistic doctor, family practice...doesn't accept insurance.

He definitely will listen to you.

I honestly feel he doesn't know a lot about thyroid disease, but was very

open to everything I talked to him about. and was interested in learning more.

I actually have sent him several articles already....and have bought him a

copy of Dr. Young's book - Thyroid - guardian of health which i will take to him

at my april appt.

I truly have a feeling this doctor is going to be very open to everything

that we thyroid patients have learned.

well...I didn't have any recent labs to show him....and he gave me a

prescription for 3 grains. it sorta went like this....he pulled out the PDR and

read

what it said which was something like 1 - 2 grain for mild hypo and 3 grains

for severe hypo....and started to say something about operating on the

periphery.....(being holistic and alternative and all that)....and so I just go

" I'm

fine with a Rx for just 3 grains)....and that's the way it went down. I go

back in April.

I can sorta understand now - knowing that the Physician's Desk Reference only

goes up to 3 grains as a dosage for severe hypo..why doctors are not willing

to prescribe more than that. if that.

we need to work on getting Forest to change the info that they are

submitting.
