Dear ,

I understand what you are saying about having a small library. I live in a town

of 150 people and we have a very very very small library. The Interlibrary loan

program is so great! I am glad that we have it too!

I eat lots of whole grain breads! I just make sure and read the labels to make

sure that it doesn't contain any white flour or sugar.(anything ending in -trose

is sugar) Pasta is also another thing that I eat. It is very good for you and

it doesn't cotain white flour (at least there is none in the varieties I buy

from our very small store:)) It contains semolina(spelling?) flour which also

has many healthful properties. My diet does consist of almost all fruits and

veggies but on occassion I do have red meat, but it is mostly game (moose, elk,

deer). I also eat chicken and fish. The fish we catch ourselves and I am

raising my own chickens so that I can get away from all the chemicals to the add

to the chicken we get at the stores.

The hardest part for me has been variety!! There really doesn't seem to be

much...lol...but that is ok I would rather be healthy and bored with my diet!

One thing that I do (and it is expensive) is I do fresh juice every day. The

first 3 days on this diet that is what I did was fresh juice and fresh fruit

only. According to the book Back to Eden it is a cleansing or eliminating diet.

And boy oh boy does it cleanse you!! I never understood how the colon worked

(nor did I ever pay attention before) and I had no idea that going once a day

was not enough to completely eliminate what is stored in the colon. It took me

3 days alone to completely clean mine out. I figured that was not a good thing

to be backed up that far.

On the veggies. Raw is best nutritionally. Steamed or microwaved 2nd best.

Frozen 3rd and canned last. I read an article on frozen veggies and never knew

that they are soaked in famaldihyde(spelling?) before they are bagged and put on

the shelves. Yuck! I eat mostly steamed veggies and my family enjoys them much

more than any other way. I also cook a lot of stir frys. I do not eat any

white rice either. In the book Jethro Kloss talks about how rice is processed.

And white rice has been stripped of all nutritional value when they polish it to

make it white. So I eat only brown or wild rice.

I understand about your family not wanting to join you. Mine didn't either

especially my 14 year old....he was completely against it. The most important

thing right now, is taking care of you:) The rest will take care of itself on

its own:)

Hope this helps you, , look forward to your posts!

If you wouldn't mind too much would it be possible for you to maybe give me some

of the things you are eating in place of the processed foods and the white

flour? Is it just fruits, veggies, and meats? We are very much a pasta and

breads family and I don't know what I'd prepare without the starches. Do you

not eat bread at all for sandwiches or is whole grain bread OK. I've never been

much of a cook anyway and the thought of taking out some of our main ingredients

sounds daunting to say the least. I myself could live on fruits and veggies

alone but trust me when I say getting the rest of the family to join me is NOT

going to be easy.

I did call my library about Back to Eden and they are going to interlibrary loan

it for me and now The Food Pharmacy sounds interesting too...I'm sure they won't

have that one either...we need a better library in this town!

Re: From Mick's husband ... and another book title

Hello :)

Thank you so much for all your kind words:) I do feel so lucky to have my

husband. He was always there for me and I thank God that I have him. I will

check out the book you are reading right now. And please do check out " Back to

Eden " it is an excellent book. Right now I am reading a book called " The Food

Pharmacy " by Jean Carper. It shows all the scientific research that is being

done on the healing properties of fruits and veggies. It also has some

information on meats too in regards to their healing properties. I was

surprised by that research but found it very interesting.

I wish you the very best of luck, and any way that I can help you at all please

let me know:)

Peace and blessings,
