Aguirre is hiring a Data Analyst to work with the National Agricultural

Employment Qualifications:

Education: Ph.D. or ABD in social science, health, education or allied

field or MA/MS/MPH with 2 years experience in related field.

Experience: Experience in survey administration and analysis. Previous

work in a multi-cultural environment a plus.

Knowledge: Knowledge of statistical analysis and familiarity with

survey methods. Familiarity with and basic knowledge of farmworker and/or

immigrant populations a plus.

Skills: Must possess strong leadership qualities. In addition, must have

strong communication skills, both oral and written; strong computer skills

in SAS are a must. Working knowledge of database program (MS Access or

equivalent, spreadsheets, MS Word or WP required. SUDAAN a plus).

Language: Fluency in English. Spanish a plus.

Salary: $60,000-$70,000 annually, depending on experience

Summary Description:

The main focus of this position is support for National Agricultural

Worker's Survey (NAWS) which is a federally funded nationwide survey with

the Department of Labor. The survey is in its 14th year and 2000-3500

interviews have been conducted per year. The survey instrument is extensive

and detailed and includes working with some sections that have multiple

records per interviewee (jobs, household members). There are more than

30,000 farmworker records and nearly 200,000 records of jobs, household

members.

Primary duties and responsibilities:

This position requires oversight and coordination for specific

responsibilities described below:

Support of Data Collection Efforts

With oversight of Project Director and Project Statistician, conduct

sampling selection and sampling compliance for the NAWS.

With oversight of Project Director, oversee routine data maintenance

activities.

Support of Documentation Efforts

With the oversight of the Project Director, coordinate and oversee the

maintenance of data dictionaries, reviewing their completeness and accuracy.

Maintain consistency and comparability of data over different years and

track and analyze changes to questions/components of survey.

Reporting and Editing Support

With oversight of Project Director, create site level data check reports for

NAWS and other programs, as required, in MSAccess and SAS

Assist Project Director with production of monthly and quarterly reports as

needed.

Create tables and graphs for reports and presentations as needed.

With oversight of Project Director, write reports and data summaries for

reports, as needed for audiences that include federal policy-level readers.

Provide editing, formatting and proofreading for report texts as needed.

Maintenance of Data Systems

With the oversight of Project Director, work with data systems including

monitoring data entry progress and checking data accuracy in the NAWS

databases, including the grower database and other sampling data.

Assist with data analysis of NAWS, including running or overseeing routine

data checks. Conduct data analysis using SAS.

With oversight of Project Director, develop and maintain accurate and up to

date SAS or MSAccess databases and perform analysis as needed for other

projects.

Oversee work of data analysis team

Assist in skills development of other data analysis members. Develop plans

for data analysis team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of data,

analyses and reports and oversee the implementation of these plans.

Assist in Other Project Services as Necessary

When necessary, run SAS programs, Access queries, or generate statistical

models in response to data information requests.
