Guest guest
Sunny in florida I am on the east coast of florida. I know over here on the east coast we haven't been hit for a long time and we are due for one bigtime. I grew up in florida and been through alot of hurricanes so they don't really bother me to much. The only hurricane that we ever left the house to go somewhere else was that year hurricane Flyod came through here and it took us 8 hours to get to the west coast of fl which normally it only takes 3 hours. but when we got home there was no damage done to the house at all that hurricane was a number 5 so it scared us bad. If I remember right floyd didn't hit us it ended up bypassing us we just got rains and winds from it then another one came after floyd i think it was arron and we lost the lights and stuff like that that one hit us the worst out of them two. go figure we didn't leave for that one lol. If you never been through a hurricane it can be scary thats for sure. i am praying for everyone through the hurricanes and hope that everyone makes it safe. Guest guest
I live on Madiera Beach, which is a barrier island along the Gulf Coast in Pinellas County, which is the peninsula that makes Tampa Bay a Bay... This morning's track has Charley making landfall almost directly over my apartment.... so basicly I'm just sitting here waiting for the evacuation orders. We're expecting a 6-10 foot storm surge or a 10-14 foot surge, depending on what meteorologist you listen too. That pretty much means the island will literally underwater. The girls are pretty upset, they don't remember the tropical storm that hit us in Manatee even though the winds were just at hurricane level... and this is a bit worse. I am trying to look at the whole thing as an adventure. One of the good things about having to leave all our stuff in Buffalo for my son (because the car died and we could only take a couple suitcases on the train when we moved) is that we don't have terribly much to loose, so I'm not terribly worried or frightened. I'm sure that I'll be upset if I come home and no longer have my ceremonial tea wisk that my daughter sent me, or the kids certificates for citizenship from kindergarden, or the picture fron the state fair where we were all dressed up as confederate soldiers and southern belles... But I can't even PROCESS that now. oh, and yesterday the doc found a lump, and refered me for a mamogram and a surgical consult. so even WITHOUT Charley it never rains but it POURS! > Hi Friends > Please keep those of us in Florida in your prayers. Guest guest
Hi Kate I am in Central Florida, but our fears are the same as you. There is no where for us to evacuate as the hurricane force winds will be all over the state as of tomorrow. I am sure that the shelters will let you take a minimal amount of belongings, so pack those special things in plastic baggies and take them along. What a blessing that most of your things are NOT in your home! I have been through many of these and I am sure it will be okay, as long as it doesn't escalate to the point that did. People just weren't ready for that one and it was the biggest yet. Now.. we all take them more seriously. You and your girls will be fine, but DO leave and go to higher ground. I will keep you in my prayers for this event as well as the lump. I am sure God will take good care of you, but check back in as soon as you can get back online and let us know. Take care, Not so Sunny > > Hi Friends > > Please keep those of us in Florida in your prayers. We are going to > > get hit double whammy this weekend with two hurricanes. Guest guest
Thanks, Joanna. I am hoping it will lose strength before it makes it over to us. But from what I've seen on TV, it's gaining. You never can tell about these storms. I had my condo on Cocoa Beach flooded in 1984 by a storm that didn't even get named. My poor hubby is having to do all the preps for this one alone as my own health is very bad right now after 8 weeks of being a caregiver. Thanks for the prayers. We will need them and will check back in when we can. Sunny > Sunni, hope it all looks worse than it'll be. Guest guest
Thanks to all of you who are offering up prayers for our state. I have a report from Panama City ( from my baby bro) that Bonnie was next to nothing there this morning. They have sunny weather now. The east coast is getting flood and tornado warnings as the Volusia area ( Daytona Beach) is already water saturated from days of rain. Brevard is preparing for storm surge... Cocoa and Titusville areas. The storm is now headed more for Tampa than Ft. Myers and will go slightly north of the Orlando area. My daughter is moving to Gainesville to U of Fla on Sunday, so I hope she can still do that as it will go right through there on Saturday. After years ago, we Floridians take these storms much more seriously now. So most of the state is well prepared and braced for the worst. But, hopefully, as in past situations, we have over prepared and it will not be as bad as it seems it will be. After , all the hurricanes look good. May the good Lord NEVER bring us another Category five direct hit! Hope all of you are enjoying a restful and healthy day! Sunny ( at least for now... > You & all the FL lupies will be in our prayers. > > > -------Original Message-------

Guest guest
Please do let me know. I have no idea if I can join you that soon as I am still recovering from taking care of my mom for 8 weeks. I brought home a little " gift " of pericarditis that I am taking the big boy drugs to get over. But being weeks away, I might be good enough by then to meet you. Where do you usually go to eat? Where does your friend live over here? I am on the east side of the city.. closest to you in Titusville. ( Can't get TOO far from a beach.. lol) Sunny > I know where Sherwood is I am in the middle of titusville i live across the > street from the YMCA. Guest guest
Thanks, a.So far, we still have good weather here. Tomorrow is the day we will most likely remember. I still remember when Donna came through in 1960. It was very scary, but we all made it with only a few trees down. I hope we fare that well this time. I will try to check in tomorrow if we manage to keep our power. Sunny > Be careful Sunny, and all of our Florida lupies.
