Guest guest
Are you sure about your PSC? Abstract: To ascertain the dianganosis of (my) PSC, Immunological studies must be done including antimitochondrial antibody, immunoglobulins and ANCA Consulted with: (Dr. S. Badakhsh, Hepathologist in Omaha and Dr. Sandhu, a Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and head of GI group in Sacramento with consultation of hepatologists at the University of California at in Sacramento) Please note that the following post is my own post as a patient and it's not intended to be posted by the mentioned doctors above. Questions: 1. If you are diagnosed with PSC, Have you ever taken such tests? 2. What was your result and its range? Useful to: 1. Those who have experienced Whipple operation. 2. Caregivers & Patients of PSC, Cholangioca and Adenomyoma hyperplasia. 3. Researchers and Physicians. Aim: This is meant to be as an initial point to be taken into consideration for all of us as even if one of you has the similar case, I find this effort useful towards a brighter future and I'd like to ask any of you to join and accompany me in this way with your thoughts and experiences. Please contact me at: m.massoumi@... Further info in brief: I am Melvyn, a 20 y/o patient with arisen symptoms in 2005 similar to PSC symptoms. I was undergone *Whipple Operation ( & *Cholecystectomy which doctors now find Whipple detrimental for my case. My present condition & Medication: HIGH LFT (Liver Function Tests), High Ca 19-9 and High Alkaline phosphatase. Reported Segmental dilations in Intrahepatic ducts in Ultrasound and MRCP. Daily Medication: 1500 mg Ursoflour (Ursodeoxycholic acid) & 600 mg Rifampin Pathology Report: My pathology report came up with 3 diagnoses due to my symptoms & findings in operation as follows: 1- May be consistent with adenomyoma or adenomyomatous hyperplasia of distal common bile duct and ampulla of Vater according to histological findings. 2-The other possibility is the fibrosing inflammatory conditions of common bile duct which may present as pseudotumor in ampulla and mimic as carcinoma clinically. 3- Some of these conditions may be associated with Sclerosing Cholangitis. * No malignancy is identified. Confusion & Further studies: For now, before any treatments. I'm supposed to reach a convincing diagnosis by undergoing Liver Biopsy of intrahepatic ducts and Immunological studies to discuss the result whether it is PSC, Adenomyoma or anything else !? I will post the results after get it done. (Soon I will upload all my medical documents in a presentation) Definitions: * Whipple: A type of surgery used to treat pancreatic cancer.
