<< Lately I have been feeling very irritable and mad/angry and

everything and everyone. I have narrowed it down to 2 of the meds I am

taking, either the Adderall or the Trazodone. Had anyone had these types

of side effects with either of these meds? I am really hoping it is the

Trazodone, because the Adderall has been great with giving me some

motivation that I normally dont have.>>

I have had alot of reactions to medications over the years. I am just

getting through a very bad reaction to an anticonvulsant that my

neurologist gave me to try to block my migraines. Unfortunately I

didn't put it together and stayed on it and I had severe anxiety. Along

with anxiety comes fear, depression and in my case due to the fear, I

couldn't even go to the mail or leave my apt. This is passing so I know

it was the medication. As soon as I looked it up and saw that anxiety

was a major reaction, I called my neurologist and she took me off it

immediately. I had to go on 1mg Xanax 3x a day to get through this and

now that I am off it and the anxiety has let up quite a bit, I know what

medication it was. I take alot of medication so it is hard to figure

out what it is. At the same time, I was taken off Prozac because after

years it had stopped working and the doctor put me on Celexa. I had no

idea which med it was causing the problem. The only way to find out

what it was was to go off one drug and test it. Since the Celexa was

more important, I went off the other one first. And hopefully the

Celexa will be okay. My point is that you have to stop one at a time

which I am sure you know and time will tell. You know which is more

important for you so you should slowly go off the less important med.

Also never go off medication cold turkey unless you have no choice. I

wish you the best of luck.

  • 3 weeks later...

Here is what web md says about adderall:

What is the most important information I should know about

amphetamine-dextroamphetamine?

• Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing

other hazardous activities. Amphetamine-dextroamphetamine may cause

dizziness, blurred vision, or restlessness, and it may hide the

symptoms of extreme tiredness. If you experience these effects, avoid

hazardous activities.

• Amphetamine-dextroamphetamine is habit forming. You can become

physically and psychologically dependent on this medication, and

withdrawal effects may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after

several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your doctor about stopping

this medication gradually.

Being that it is an amphetamine it may cause the irritability you

describe.

I have been on trazadone for 2 years now and it hasn't caused me any

irritability or nervousness. It's a mild anti-depressant so it

actually seems to have had the opposite effect on me.
