Guest guest
Chaim, I hope you get an answer because your pattern of high and low lab work is identical to mine - with the exception of cholesterol which I haven't had checked. I also had a handful of cholangitis attacks @ the same time as you. Darcy Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

Guest guest
Chaim, The high White Blood Cells and platelets can be from an infection. I think ALP can too, but could not find a quick reference to that. Looks like your body is still reacting to your cholangitis attacks. The low blood numbers are a little harder to rationalize. Given your RBC and hemoglobin I would expect you to have fatigue/stamina issues. Is your creatinine level normal? From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of e_boermeester Sent: Wednesday, March 25, 2009 2:16 PM To: Subject: Strange blood test results The last few months (since my three cholangitis attacks in three months time) I keep getting blood test results that seem to puzzle my doctors. White blood cells are high (13.6), platelets are high (507) and Alkaline phosphatase is high (145). In addition, hemaglobin is low (13.8), hematocrit is low (41.3), RBC is kind of low (4.95) and cholesterol is on a downward trend (especially LDL). I feel fine, apart from that I am having bad night sweats. Does anyone have any idea what to look for? Guest guest
Lori, I am not taking ADEK vitamins at the moment because there is a lapse in supply. I will be getting new vitamins at the end of the month. Guest guest
Joe, Shouldn't my body go back to normal after two months without cholangitis attacks? I do tire fast and tend to sleep earlier than I used to. My creatinine is in the normal range (0.83). The range is from 0.67 to 1.17. Thanks, Chaim From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Joe Berry Sent: Wednesday, March 25, 2009 23:12 To: Subject: RE: Strange blood test results Chaim, The high White Blood Cells and platelets can be from an infection. Guest guest
Chaim, You would think that after two months things would be back to normal, especially your White Blood Count and platelets. A high WBC indicates an infection, at least in my experience. Lori indicated bleeding can cause your numbers to be where they are and I agree. Is that a possibility – like from ulcers, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, etc? Guest guest
Joe, I had a colonoscopy and a full body CT a few months ago and they did not find IBD or anything else. I am supposedly one of the few with PSC that does not have IBD. I don't think I have a bleeding ulcer, I think I would know if I did. Bleeding does also not explain the night sweats. An infection does, but we can't find where I would have that infection. Guest guest
Chaim, Could it be some obscure infection, like a tooth? My mother had most of your symptoms. She was tired and had lost some of her stamina – at 85 she still walks the treadmill 40 minutes per day. Come to find out, she had a tooth abscess. It was found in a routine dental exam. She had no pain with it, but had the symptoms. Her only conflicting symptom was low platelets. Joe I had a colonoscopy and a full body CT a few months ago and they did not find IBD or anything else. Guest guest
Chiam, If you wan to see something amazing go to Wrong Diagnosis Symptom checker, anything and everything can cause night sweats. It seems to be common with chronic and autoimmune diseases.
