Guest guest
Hi " bluesparklepony " . First thing to tell you is that you wasted your time reducing your dose two days before testing. ( That's not enough time to show much lowered results...and especially with the TSH. There is a good article in the FILES section on TSH you could take him. Additionally, all you need as far as labs are the FREE T3 and the FREE T4--forget the " Thyroxine T4 " , the " Triiodothyronine T3 " and the " T3 uptake " . Useless. IT looks like you are getting the outdated " Thyroid Panel " and then he adds the free T3. As far as those hypo symptoms, how long have you been on the approx. 165 mg. dose? It's about high enough to stay on it at least 4-5 weeks to give the T4 time to build and to see the conversion to T3 results. And the bottom line is to dose by symptoms, not by the TSH. On an optimal dose of Armour for me--one that removes all symptoms and leaves me with great energy--my TSH happens to fall to .009. I know of one gal that is .004. But again, dose by symptoms, and remember to allow your doses to stick for at least 4-5 weeks when you are getting as high as you are. Guest guest
If you feel fine don't reduce the dose and let the Dr. stress about the labs. -Anne > > I was prescribed 120 mg of armour about 9- 10 weeks ago). Guest guest
I'd love to do that and probably will...but what do you do when your refill is three weeks ahead of schedule? THAT is where I see a problem.... how do you handle that part of it? > > If you feel fine don't reduce the dose and let the Dr. stress about > the labs. > > -Anne > >
Guest guest
I don't know why your doc is stressing about your dose, b/c although your tsh is a hair low so is your T4 and Free T3!! Those should matter more than your TSH!!Is your doctor going to let you stay on the higher dose? Maybe you need T3 supplementation, b/c it doesn't look like you are getting enough. > > I was prescribed 120 mg of armour about 9- 10 weeks ago). Guest guest
When do we thyroid patients rise up and say we want new ranges for people who are being treated with thyroid hormones. The ranges that are being used now are ranges which were gathered on a few so- called " normal " people. People on thyroid hormone treatment are not going to test within the same kind of ranges as people who do not have the disease and fall within the so-called normal ranges. People with healthy thyroids receive response from the pituitary gland in the form of TSH which regulates the thyroid output. When folks with thyroid disease are on an optimum dose of hormone, of course the pituitary gland should stop sending a TSH signal to the thyroid to produce more hormone because there's no need. Correct? Why is this not logical to doctors? Tell that doctor of your's that your TSH is suppressed because as your body is getting closer to receiving the correct dose of thyroid hormones, your pituitary gland is not having to send signals to your thyroid anymore to release thyroid hormone. Tell him to start concentrating on the actual thyroid hormones now -- your Free T4 is still low. I feel awful testy with my Free T4 low too. nw > > > > > > I was prescribed 120 mg of armour about 9- 10 weeks ago).
