Maybe they have an arrangement with a psychiatrist or other doctor to have drugs dispensed under the psychiatrist's name. Psychiatrists are M.D.s or D.O.s and those are the degrees that would qualify them for a state license to allow them to legally dispense or prescribe drugs. So I still maintain that it's not the PhDs that we should be making digs at, it's the M.D.s. Not that I'm disputing your charge of arrogant and ignorant medical professionals. He's a great guy and smart as a whip, but he's very much the exception. Most of his " professional " friends have the flavor of a water chestnut, as far as I'm concerned.
