Guest guest
Joyce, I have a great friend, Diona, who is on this group and has helped me learn about taking Armoure. I asked my Dr. and he agreed but I don't think he understands about gradually increasing my dose. I was on .50mcg of Synthroid which is why he put me on 1/2 grain. Of course I never felt better on Synthroid but because my labs always came back normal my dose was never adjusted. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 4 years ago and figured I felt crummy from that and not my thyroid. I very passively accepted my fate as I have been too tired to figure all this out. Thanks to Diona and this group I'm getting a better understanding about my health.
Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group - If you go to the files section (link to the left), you'll find some really great articles, including how to switch to Armour. Also, if you look back thru the messages, there should be a " Natural Thyroid 101 " and on about mistakes commonly made when switching to Armour. Maybe Janie will even post them again for you. What was your Synthroid dose before you switched? 1/2 grain of Armour is a very low dose, probably not close to what your body is used to, or what it needs. Make sure your doctor plans to increase it every 2-3 weeks. (I just recently switched from .125mg Synthroid to 1 grain of Armour, and that was too low. I've been increasing slowly and I'm up to 1-1/2 grains.) Why did the doctor switch you to Armour? Did you request it or was it his idea? Keep us posted on all of this, there are some really great resources here and I'm sure they'll respond to you with much more info than I have to offer! Joyce > > Hello. Guest guest
, I saw Diona's message to you & figured you knew her...You might be in the same boat as a lot of us, who are trying to educate our doctors about how to use Armour (some of us are giving up and just doing it ourselves, or firing our doctors for better ones, if we can find them). I know exactly what you mean about being too tired....but hang in there, force yourself to read as much as you can here and gather information to show to your doctor. Be strong!
