I just know for me...I had to get close to that right dose in the morning first...to get up and going...before I even started the afternoon dose. When I was at 1 1/2 in the AM, that's when I added the 1/2 in the afternoon. I now use 2 in the morning...and I have tried adding on in the morning...and it's just too much. This is all such an individual thing I think - and we do have to experiment a bit to get it right for us. Cindi
Guest guest
I'm getting ready to up my dose again (from 1.5 to 2 grains) & am wondering where the best time would be to add another dose. Currently I'm taking 1 grain in the morning & then 1/2 grain around 2pm. I am still REALLY tired from about 3-6pm - so should I split the next increase to another time, or just add it to the 2pm dose? I thought my temps were going up, but now they are back down to where they were before I started Armour - very low 97's. I think they probably went up as I have been quite sick & probably running a continual " low grade fever " - which would have been enough to bring my temp up to 98.6 :-( So I'm back to being cold again - how long will it take the ARmour to pick up my body temps? Is that another one of those magic markers for the 3 grain point? A solid change in metabolism will increase the temps? Here's to a glorious weather weekend as we celebrate His resurrection! Guest guest
Cindi - I'd love to jump right in at the 3 grain mark, but after reading here & knowing my body, I'll probably have to work thru the hoops of slowly doing this! I'm adding 1/2 grain every two weeks right now .... I would experience a big crash around 3-6 PM, and then have trouble getting to sleep at night. What I started doing was taking 1/2 gr. when I woke up, 1/2 gr. at 11 AM, and 1/2 gr. at 4 AM, and I found out I no longer had my afternoon crash, even though I was taking the same daily amount of thyroid. When I started increasing my dose, I added 1/4 gr. at bedtime, and after a couple weeks I took 1/2 gr. at bedtime. By taking my thyroid in four doses, I could increase my total dose and not get palpitations. I had first dropped down to 1 1/2 gr. because I was getting heart palpitations on 2 gr. I think taking 4 doses helped me because my poor adrenal function couldn't keep up with more than 1/2 gr. thyroid at a time. I also started taking it sublingually, which meant I no longer had to worry about my thyroid being inactivated by my calcium and iron supplements. So my advice is to take 4 doses. I like 's schedule.
