Hi. Did you happen to clean your bowl earlier with a cleaner that left an

irritating residue ? Just a thought. Good luck.

I'm guessing that your hives are more likely from what

you ate the day before the morning of your hives.

Maybe something you ate late in the evening, or

possibly earlier. Other possibilities include allergy

to your pillow, bedding, laundry soap, etc.

A couple of suggestions:

1. Try to get in to see your doctor today...

2. If you can't see the doctor have someone take a

picture of the hives so you can show your doctor

later.

And

3. If it's medically appropriate for you to do so,

take an antihistimine.

Also, embrace this as a clue to your rosacea cause.

Many of us have misdiagnosed with rosacea because we

have allergies.

Hello Laurie,

I also had the hives after surgery and nothing would get rid of them. My

surgeon thought they might have been a reaction to pain medications. They

went away just before my 4 month check up. My primary doctor suggested

Benedryl and I tried that and it helped with the itching.

Check with your doctor before you take anything to be sure it is okay with

any medication you are on.

Hope this helps.

I'm about to go crazy here with hives. They thought it was the aldactone they

put me on the week before, and so told me to stop taking it. I did, but the

hives are getting worse. Now, instead of patches on my forearms, it's one solid

red mass, and the itching is constant and unrelenting whereas it had been just

every so often.

I can't handle anti-histamines, so that's out. Hydrocortisone cream had no

effect whatsoever.

Any ideas? Anyone else hit this?

Regards,

Carolyn B. in SC

Carolyn,

Have you tried prednsone? I used it for hives before (on a tapering dose). The

doctor waited two weeks until he resorted to it. It worked that time. My itching

is in the worst flare I can remember and it has lasted weeks and is keeping me

up nights. I've scratched away the skin all over the place. Phenobarbitol (sp)

helps some people with itching also. It did knock me out, but did not make my

itch go away. The doctor also suggested testosterone, but I wasn't willing to

try it (he didn't think it would be ideal for me anyway), but it is used for

pruritis. Write me back and let me know what you think. Did you see my latest

drama? Protein in my urine! I am so depressed. Take care, Cheryl ID(hives on top

of liver itch---you must be certifiable by now!)

Carolyn,

This is the prescription Lidocanine I use, but it only helps open skin for me.

It comes with little rectal caps. My dermatologist prescribes it for me. They

have to order it in locally, but comes in the next day. They are tubes and come

in a box. It really helps those sores heal. Liodocaine HCI 3%, Hydrocortisone

Acetate 0.5 cream, Anti-inflammatory Anesthetic, Rx only. 7g Hope you can get

this right away, but it doesn't help me all over. Cheryl ID
