Guest guest
,Hi! I just saw your questions and wanted to at least try to answer them since I hadn't seen an answer posted yet (although it probably was and my brain is too addled to remember tonight!) :)In any case, you had asked if a transplant is inevitable for all PSC patients. The answer is no. While it's my understanding that the majority of PSCers will face the need for a transplant, PSC is not a 100% guarantee that you'll need it. There are many PSCers who have had PSC for over a decade who still haven't needed one and aren't yet on any list.Secondly, you asked about recurrence of PSC after transplant. Technically, I think you're still considered as having PSC after the transplant even though you don't actively have it, but I don't really know. Maybe somebody can answer that for me? I mean, transplant can't be the "cure" for PSC because there is no cure for PSC, but technically once the liver and bile ducts are removed during transplant, I'd guess that PSC was no longer in the system...although you are right about it recurring in some cases. Well, darn, I started out answering a question for you and now have one myself! :)Sandi in VAOriginal Thread: is a liver transplant inevitable for every psc patient. After the transplant what happens are you good or you still have the disease.
