Guest guest
Hi , I've noticed alot of my online friends get different medications for FMS than I take. Especially my friends outside the US, quite a few of them are in Australia. I was put on Elavil when I was first diagnosed in 1996. Amitriptline (sp?) is the generic form of Elavil. I gained alot of weight when I was taking it and it really didn't help me anyway. I've been on Prozac for about a year and a half. My weight has been fairly steady while taking it. I'm on Klonopin for Anxiety and also to help me sleep. Also Flexeril, as a muscle relaxer. I'm on Neurontin as a mood stablizer. My shrink said it's also good for Fibro pain and to help me sleep. The only thing they will prescribe for pain is Naprosyn. It only helps a little and is playing havoc on my stomach. So now I'm taking Nexium for the pain and burning. I also take Synthroid, Clarinex, Toprol XL, Miacalcin Nasal Spray and " the pill " , unrelated to FMS. Guest guest
Hello... Thanx for answering my question. I am on Amitripytline for Depression and to help me sleep. Naprosyn is given as an anti-inflammatory medicine in Canada - no where close to be used as a pain killer. You seem to be on as many drugs for Fibro as I am. Wish they could make a little blue pill for all of us to take to get rid of Fibro. But, then all the pharmaceutical companies would be out of a lot of money they make now with all the meds that are prescribed. -- Re: Canadian US Comparison Question Hi , I've noticed alot of my online friends get different medications for FMS than I take. My Rheumatologist said there are no medications used to treat FMS other than anti-depressants. He only agreed to the Naprosyn because he found out I have Osteoarthritis too. I wish they would make one of those little blue pills for us too. If you ever found out about one, let me in on it. :-) Jacqui Jacqui McCallister Age: 39 Dx'd with FMS: 1995, but symptoms since 1984 Approved for SSI: June 18, 2002 Additional Illnesses: Papillary Thyroid Cancer spread to lungs, Intra-Ocular Migraines, TMJ, Allergies, Periodontitis, Mitral Valve Prolapse, IBS, Osteoarthritis, MPS and CFS, Congenital Hip Dysplasia, Osteopenia, Bunions, Heel Spur, Light/Smell/Sound Sensitivities, Motion Sickness, Sleep Problems, Depression, Anxiety Location: Ridgeview, West Virginia USA Divorced, no kids.
