Guest guest
I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me what happens after an MRCP. Matt had his first one on Wednesday, and they didn't tell us anything afterwards. We don't have an appointment with the hep until a month from now. Does someone call us with results? Are they just testing to see if Matt has PSC, or does the MRCP serve some other purpose? I know some of the people on the boards mention that they have an MRCP yearly, so does it measure the progression of the disease? Thanks (as always) for the help, and hope everyone has a great weekend! Alison B. wife of Matt, PSC 2/2009
Guest guest
Alison, You would expect a call from someone about the results of the MRCP but it doesn’t always happen. I worked in the business end of healthcare for many years and too much gets missed for me to trust this to happen. I request a copy of the results. It could cost about $1 per page, but it is worth it. I then take it to the doctor with me and we review it together. I do this with all results for all doctors and hospitals. My transplant center really encourages this as does the oncologist that treats my mother. It also helps me be aware of things that may not be “bad” but something that I might be able to impact positively. For example, my glucose was at the high level of normal. I was able to concentrate on it and reduce it over 10%. Just another option that helps you be more informed.
