Guest guest
Hi Janet and welcome. One the first comments of support we can give you is to avoid any and all Endo's. Granted, we have heard of a few good ones, but I do mean a VERY few. Like one per 100,000?? LOL. The rest are awful. They are Synthroid Nazi's and lab-obsessed. They will make black ink spots on a piece of paper more important than screaming symptoms. Post your labs with ranges. Also tell us your symptoms. Have you taken your morning, before-you-get-up temp with a mercury thermometer?? The most informative labs are the free T3 and free T3, by the way. Guest guest
Janet, that's great. No matter what doc you finally decided upon-- even the best--it's wise to get educate yourSELF. Go to our FILES section and read everything you can. I will also send you the NATURAL THYROID 101 paper I created and often post here. I don't think I've posted it since you joined, but have done it so much lately that I'll send it direct to you. Janie > Mark Nolting, ND in Edmonds. I about fell over - he actually returned > a call in under an hour. >

Guest guest
Janet, I would regard the top doc list from www.thyroid.about.com with skepticism. Not all those dr's are all that wonderful. Some of them I think actually add themselves to that list. or they get their employee's to add them to it. Some of the worst dr's I've found have been on that list, and I've managed to put a couple on there, then had to repost about how bad they actually were. You might want to try to get in touch with the Thyroid Support Group for your area. They may have better lists with better dr's and some definite qualities that you would want to look for, like somebody who's not afraid to prescribe armour or any other T4/T3 supplement. You would most likely have to do a search on Yahoo for Washington Thyroid Support Group, but don't leave here. This is a great group of people with so much knowledge. SandyE~Houston First post - need help Greetings all, I'd like to tell my " story " but first, can anyone recommend a good endocrinologist and naturopathic physician in Seattle or nearby areas? I have an appt. with endo. Murray (Polyclinic) in April. Living in Bastyr-land (school of naturopathy) but don't know who to go to. Guest guest
I've found in several instances now that doctors who look like they might help my issues are not covered by many insurances, some none. My theory is they have opted out of being dictated to or second guessed by the insurance companies. Too bad. Because my life is already more expensive to live than it was when I felt well. And alternative ideas aren't always good ones. It's an expensive process. Kate Re: First post - need help Hi Kerry, I have to say, now I know why someone referred me here. People are very kind. I know exactly where that is. In my " research " I saw Dr. M. mentioned, but he's not covered under my insurance. Not that my insurance in so fabulous, but at least it covers something. I'm getting killed with labs and visits and only work half-time. Maybe I'll call the office and see if they might join my plan - it's a big one (LOL)....>
