Guest guest
Hi everyone, Just thought I would stop and let y'all know what was happening and explain why I may not be here for awhile. Last medical appointments- 6 MRI's - shows several herniation in cervical spine, bone spurs pushing on spinal cord- but all not enough to do surgery Also found bursitis in left upper arm. Back to ortho doc at the suggestion of our GP. He injected the bursa and stated it " should " make the spasms to stop????? within 2 hrs of getting the injection, I was screaming in pain with another spasm - the spasms have continue with the pain going all the way down my arm into the forearm. He also suggested having pm doc inject the neck to see if that would help the spasms go away|( I really am tired of their experiments as to what will actually help the pain stop.) Both ortho doc and pain management doc have received and completed SSDI form. But found out that the questions on the forms are very tricky in how they are worded?? The one form asked the PM doc to evaluate my mental status with questions " what is her appearance (normal or abnormal?? what is her mood normal or abnormal) - there is no room to explain the answers are either normal or abnormal. Finally the last but not least the eye doctor's appointment. We are at the end of Bill's cobra insurance coverage- so we are trying to get all the exams in before the end of the month. In addition, I HAVE noticed some problems with my eyes- I haven't been able to read street signs until I am almost next to them. There have been an increase of flaoters and sometimes it looks like a fog covering my eyes. Then I had a problem the week before last that no one has been able to fiqure out. Bill had a delivery to Beaumont that Sunday. So we took the opportunity to drive over to Lousianna to the Casino closest to the border - not to gamble but for the buffet!! The have a breakfast buffet that is great but at 10:30 it changes into a seafood buffet!! If you arrive around 10:20 you can pay the lower price for the breakfast and then get the seafood. The also have champagne with the seafood. I had 2 glasses of the champagne ( we mix it with orange juice to make mamosas. We then walked around, got some pictures to show our German exchange student this fall and then started to drive back home. We got home and Bill received a call to return to Beaumont - he suggested that I stay home, which I did. About 2 hours later, I took my pain pill and neurontin as I would normally. Awhile later, I got up to go to the kitchen and I don't know what happen next: It looked like There was alot of dark threads in front of my left eye. Every time I closed my eyes and opened them it appeared like the threads were " unraveling " . They would not go away!! Was it an eye problem?? Was it a reaction from the meds along with whatever alcohol left in my system- although by this time the alcohol would have been minimal at the most. - we will never know. I laid down and when I work up it was all gone. On this Monday I finally had my eye exam. Becuase I have cataract surgery in the 1980's , I need to see a medical eye doctor. The tech did the " pre exam " where they use a machine to determine what your vision should be- it would not work on my left eye. the tech kept retrying- and then said something that would petrify anyone- she asked me if I was blind in that eye- since the machine was not finding any vision ( or whatever it was supposed to me looking for). She then took me into a room to check the vision with the letter on the wall- I never saw any letters with my left eye - just the white spot on the wall. She then put her foot in her mouth again when she said " well you don't have any vision in your left eye to correct " (something like that is something the doctor needs to discuss with the patient- not the tech.) I just fell apart and started crying. she then responded " don't you know what you have- didn't the doctor tell you???? " I hadn't seen the doctor yet - and I am not going to remember what happen last year. She then put the drops in and took me to a dark room to wait for the doctor. After that exam it was determined that the back part of the capsule was fogged over and needed to be treated with laser surgery. That is where I am going to be this afternoon. I am really worried that I could have one of the left upper arm spasms while she is pointing the laser at my eye - not good !! They haven't told me anything about what they are going to do. So we will probably leave early in order to ask questions. I don't know if I will have any restrictions after the laser surgery, so I don't know if I will be able to use the computer etc. If you don't hear from me for awhile, I guess it will be safe to assume that I DID have restrictions. Well, that is all for now, ny neck is burning and telling me to stop and take the medication for pain. I will be back as soon as I can. -- __________________________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup Get 4 DVDs for $.49 cents! plus shipping & processing.
