I'm wondering if this isn't just one more myth (miscarriage = DNC) that has been perpetuated upon women. Sorta like the myth ovarian cyst = laproscopy. I turned that one down too...thank the good lord. Cindi I've had two miscarriages that I'm aware of... (suspected others, but can't know) and I've never had a DNC. Actually, my doc at the time of the first one (1988) told me " dont' you dare have that done! It's unnecessary most often. " He just monitored me for a while to make sure my body took care of the situation itself and it did. The most recent miscarriage in 2001, nobody even suggested a DNC. For what it's worth. ~Alyce

Guest guest
for what's it's worth, I had tissue retention from a miscarriage between my second and third child and a D & C was totally necessary. I think that you have to go case by case. Kerry --- Alyce alyce13j@...> wrote: > > > A DNC is done to make sure that all possible > tissue is > > gone after a miscarriage. Guest guest
Definitely, everyone has different needs and there will be times a DNC is necessary - that's why my doc watched me... but I also think these are done unnecessarily at times too.
