Guest guest
I didn't catch your name... But, I wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and sending out positive thoughts. Please know that you are not alone in your struggles. In fact, I often refer to dealing with the medical community as the most horrible " symptom " . I'm an RN and I used to work for a very busy group of 12 doctors. There are ways to manipulate the clinics to get in. Sometimes I think you're speaking with people who are just doing what they've been told. There has to be a way that you can get in with a rheum. Can you speak to their business office or ask to speak with the founding partner? Call and ask to speak with the clinic manager. That's usually easier than dealing with the front desk. Can your GP write a letter to your insurance company explaining the need for you to be seen by a rheumatologist? I know that this all seems overwhelming. Take it one step at a time. You can do it. Take care,
Guest guest
What about a pain management doctor? That is what you need, not this lame, non working treatment from your GP! Rhonda please......help, suggestions? I have not posted in 6 weeks or so, I went hiking for a weekend, and since that time, I have been at about pain level 7, have not slept more than one hour at a time, and last night tried to cook hot dogs and macaroni and cheese and by the time I got it to the table, I had to go to bed, as I could not even put a fork to my mouth--which has been happening most every day now. I went to my GP today (the 4th time i've seen her in 9 months), and she said for the 4th time " the treatment for fibromyalgia is nsaids and physical therapy " , and added wellbutrin (I already take zoloft), and gave me 6 pills and to take one a day--called bextra (a new nsaids, that didn't do a thing). My husband has said that the family can't take this anymore.....my insurance won't cover a rheumatologist--and the rheumatologist won't take me as a self-pay, I can't get to a new (GP type) doctor for at least 6 months, and i'm afraid by then i'll be nearly bedridden. As I can barely drive anymore, and can only stay up about 15-20 minutes at a time, without becoming overwhelmingly tired.... I don't know what to do, i've seen doctor after doctor for the past 14 years and have taken every nsaid, psychiatric drug and antidepressant, which hasn't helped a bit.....and I don't know how long I can keep going just by my will to force myself to function through the pain and fatigue. I told the doctor today that the treatment was no better than it was in the 17th century, and she said 'yes it is, we have medications', maybe I should've said her treatment FOR ME is no better.... Guest guest
Your story sounds like mine. For eight years I went round and round with various doctors and medications. Naprozen helped some. Massage helped temporarily. Just been diagnosed with sleep apnea. Never dreamed that is why I don't sleep or wake up all night. Have you had a sleep study done? So many people have told me recently that is what causes fibro.... Check it out.
