Guest guest
Girlfriends, I had a hysterectomy last June, 1 yr. ago! And I still feel like a woman. I was 45. I wish I could have done it sooner. But I had no one to care for my children. My Sister also had her's done about the same time and she is 7 years younger than me. She is so glad she did it. He pain was terrible and I was bleeding to death. When I think to myself no more periods, I get a very joyful feeling! Guest guest
In response to my comment: «[Taking Depo-Provera, which caused me to go three months without a period] Made me feel very disconnected from what I see as an important part being a woman.» wrote: «Girlfriends, I had a hysterectomy last June, 1 yr. ago! And I still feel like a woman.» and Irene wrote: «At the age of 66 I do not feel that not having my menses makes me feel disconnected.» I want to make sure that no one misinterprets my previous comment. I just want to clarify that I do *not* believe that not having a period, due to menopause-- whether natural or surgically induced-- (or having a cancerous breast removed) makes one less of a woman... Not being menopausal, I have a different point of view than those who have reached that point. When I reach menopause, I will go through that change with the same attitude that I have toward menstruation: it's a natural part of being a woman and should be whole-heartedly embraced instead of fought against. As a fertile woman who chooses to remain childfree, I look forward to my period every month, despite the severe menstrual problems I've had in the past. I don't even mind the cramps or backaches that come along with it. In part, my attitude toward menstruation comes from my spirituality. I will not go into detail, since religious matters are forbidden as subjects of discussion on this list and I do not want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Have a blessed day, -Mareth ~*~*~*~*~*~ The greatest achievement of the human spirit is to live up to one's opportunities, and to make the most of one's resources. -- Vauvenargues _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
