Hi Folks:

I never post. I am always a lurker but I thought this

might be worth posting. I have been a total wreck

since I went to an othopedic surgeon for my

osteoporosis last Friday for a follow-up. He told me

that my x-rays were terrible but that HE COULDN'T HELP

ME. He told me to go to a rheumatologist. He also

leaned over to me closely and in a stage whisper

proclaimed, " And of course, you DO know that Fibro is

FATAL! " Then he proceeded to write down the name of

a book he recommended for me called " What Doctors

Don't Tell You About Fibromyalgia " . He didn't know

the name of the author. Well, that pretty much made

my day. It also pretty much blew away whatever hope I

ever had of watching my daughter grow up. Feedback?

I have never heard that said before. I think it's

only fatal in the sense that life is fatal! We all die

of something ......someday! I have never heard of

fibro as the cause of death. In fact, my understanding

is more in terms of living a long, miserable (kidding)

life.

I have had fibro symptoms since I can remember, even

as a child and I am 54...mother of 2 .....grandmother

of 3.

Do I wish I could " DO MORE " ....YES.

I have heard of that book. There may be exerpts

available from it at Amazon.com.

Be thankful Dr. DoomANDgloom is not going to be caring

for you.

After Sept 11th, I think we all became more sensitive

to our mortality. Continue to live life to your full

measure and take the advice of someone (DR) who knows

what he is talking about.

Best Wishes...

Hi Folks:

I never post. I am always a lurker but I thought this

Fibro is not fatal. I don't know what this so called doctor was up to but I

would stay away from him. I would report him to the Medical Society. This

is not the way an ethical doctor acts.

dear Lynne

I am so sorry to hear about this doctor'as incensitivity! I have never ever

heard that FMS is fatal! Then life itself could be considered fatal. That

is such hogwash it burns my.... well you know what I mean. Sweetie get out

of the dolldrums created by someone who is misinformed. After 25 years of

Fibro I am still here and doing relatively well. Sure there are days I wish

I did not have pain.... but on the whole I manage my life pretty well. It is

so very important to keep on the sunny side of the street. And as long as

you can maintain your equlibrium you have it made. Look for the things you

can do and forget those you cannot. Keep your mind focussed on healing your

body. Tell your body how much you appreciate what it does for you. Like a

child our bodies need praise, it needs to know it is doing a good job under

the circumstances. Being positive and upbeat truly does help a lot. When

doctors such as the one you encountered spout sheer nonsense it is best to

tell him adios! You need all the support you can get and he certainly did

not give you that impression. There are many books I believe to be of more

help than this poor misguided medical quack. Besides here in this group are

so many wonderful people who are going through the same sh...t, that perhaps

this is the place for you to come and be comforted. My mother had a

wonderful saying: " You never eat the soup as hot as it is served " I too do

not post often but read a lot. Not for lack of interest but for lack of

time. Thank you for being so open and posting this " miracle cure " Disgard

it immediately and keep smiling.

tender hugs for you.
