Guest guest
Hi Jen, I'm on a beta blocker that slows my heart rate down. But, the current dosage just isn't cutting it. The problem is, it also lowers your blood pressure. So, I can't take too much! My heart feels like it's thudding too. Almost like it's beating too hard. Or skipping a beat. This could be a medication side effect. So, maybe I'll be starting something new today when I go to the doctor. I hate this feeling. It keeps me from working out and when I don't work out, I feel worse. thanks for your reply. Hope you're having a good day.
Guest guest
Seen two cardiologists, both here and one at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. My heart checks out fine. I had a weird virus when I was a child and ever since then I've had a rapid heart rate. The rate has just increased markedly in the last 2 years-- enough to require medication. Thanks so much for your reply, though. I do appreciate it! have a good day. > You really should talk to your doctor even though I understand the > looks! I experienced briefs bout of this for years. Guest guest
Thanks for asking , My GP increased the dose of the beta blocker I'm on. I'm hoping it will help. I had a strange virus as a kid and that's when my heart started speeding up. He thinks that my fibro is aggravating it. Gotta go. take care, > > > Re: racing heart > > > So, maybe I'll be starting something new today when I go to the > doctor. > I hate this feeling. Guest guest
Go get your new med! It was the combination of a calcium channeler and an ace inhibitor that did it for me. They tested me for everything else under the sun until I insisted it was the heart and that I needed more meds. It worked like a charm and almost instantly. I feel so much more than me, well the me that has FM. Isn't Inderal an old med? If it doesn't work, ask to try a newer one. I tried all of them till we hit on the calcium channeler which helped a long time, then we had to add the ace inhibitor. Guest guest
~ My resting heart rate is usually in between 100-130. It has been down to about 55, but for the most part it's higher. My cardiologist hasn't said much about it because it's common for people with Dysautonomia which is the medical talk for dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. I also belive that I read somewhere that fibro is also associated with the autonomic nervous system. For the life of me I can't remember where I read it at. Well, I hope the meds start working for you again. The racing isn't plesant at all. My grandmother told me that a racing heart could also mean you are low on potassium. I bought some a while a go and my 6 year old helped me put groceries away and now I can't find it. LOL....Take care. ~ ---------------------------------

Guest guest
I am not sure how old inderal is. I started taking for neurocardiogenic syncope. Not quite sure how it helps keep my episodes from occuring. Well, it dosn't help much, but the nurse said that taking the new med will increase my bp to hopefully keep me from passing out. We'll see how it goes. The nurse said that it would take about 4 to 6 weeks before I notice any thing. If it helps I'll be patient. Thanks! Take care!! ~ ---------------------------------
