Guest guest
Hi everyone, As I mentioned before, I headed to Mayo because I was suspecting UC activity. They scoped and indeed the little bit that's left of my rectum is very inflamed. I don't know whether that has anything to do with my leg pain. I forgot to ask my GI doctor about it and actually it's gotten better (I've been walking more and crossing my legs less, I think it was a circulation issue). My bloodwork all came back normal, which is good. I saw Dr. Lindor and he said PSC-wise I'm in good shape. We actually spent most of the time talking about work-life balance and how to reduce the stress in my life so that I can keep doing what I love. He was very pragmatic and sensitive to my issues as a working mother. I have to say, my experience with him this time was totally different from the previous one. He was very warm and personable and seemed to have a personal interest in the work-life balance issue. Also, Dr. Lindor had some very good things to say about PSC Partners. He said he was very impressed with the organization and the website. I'm kind of bummed about the UC flareup though, because I'd never had inflammation in my rectum. I feel like my body just HAS to attack itself, and you you remove one target, it will find another. Dr. Sandborn (my GI) said a pouch is problematic because I'm at increased risk for pouchitis and also because I would like to have at least one more child, and a pouch may reduce my ability to conceive. So he's having me do Remicade. I'm not too optimistic about it because it hasn't worked for me in the past. So it's frustrating to say the least.
