Costochondritis

I was told that I have Costochondritis today and they are unsure as to

why. This is inflamation of the cartlidge between my ribs on the left

side. HAs anyone ever had this and does any one know if it's realted

to PSC. The only other thing they found is that my ALP doubled in the

last 6 weeks. It may be because of the arthritis or the Fibromyalgia

but my sedrate was normal so I am wondering about a connection with the

PSC. Just for clarity purposes, I do not that this costochondritis can

be associated with Fibro but I have no other symptoms of Fibro right

now. I do have other symptoms of the PSC right now such as URQ pain

and itching. I have found some articles that say it has been linked to

PBC so I am currious to see if any of you have had to deal with it. Any

input would be appriciated.

Thanks

Dawn

Same here – take a look at message 93652 (it went away

after a couple of months, hasn’t returned). Part of the post:

“Costo

is also thought to be an autoimmune associated disease/condition (sigh). It

does need to be checked out however. When I experienced it several years ago, I

got my first stress test - no issues, diagnosis was Costochondritis.

My initial symptoms of PSC were pain just below the sternum (just below the

xiphoid process). It disappeared with my first ERCP.”

Take a look at the message archives and search on

costochondritis. There are more than a few hits on it (Barb’s Ken,

Mike B,, Jackie’s husband, etc.).

Here is a link to Mayo's info site of Costochondritis

Also if you do a search on this group you can find post from several

other people and a few links from them about it. Thanks Arnie for

pointing that out.

Here is what I was experiencing.

CHest pain on my left side twinges, sometimes sharp, I couldn't find a

pattern. With or without exersize.

Shortness of breath with exersice and activity

My chest felt really heavy sometimes it feels too heavey to lift up

and breath

Hard to lay on my chest at night

Worse after eating.

When the Doctor pushed on the space between a couple of my ribs

yesterday I wanted to scream but it was not like this on my right side.

I had an Echcardiogram last week that wa basically normal and I am

having a stress test done on 1/30 to be safe but he is pretty sure

that this is what I have so I am beginning a course of prednisone and

he thinks it should get better. Now I just have to remain sane while

I am on the prednisone. Prednisone does really horrible things to

me. I have already warned everyone that I am going back on it.

Check out the links and the other post from this group. They made me

feel like I wasn't a lone.
