Guest guest Posted October 15, 2003 Report Share Posted October 15, 2003 Changing Faces of Our Community: Improving the Health Care of Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers November 12, 2003 8:30 a.m. ¡V 5:30 p.m. Natural Bridge Inn and Conference Center Natural Bridge, VA State Conference Will Focus on Health Needs of Migrant Workers Statewide issue has impact on all Communities With the ever-increasing population of migrant and seasonal farm workers, the health care needs of this segment of the population has become an issue in Virginia. A statewide conference to look at improving the health care of migrant and seasonal farm workers will be held in Natural Bridge on November 12. Titled " Changing Faces of Our Community: Improving the Health Care of Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers " , the conference will feature remarks by key note speaker o Dansie, PhD, a nationally recognized cultural competency consultant. Sponsored by Virginia Dept. of Health - Office of Health Policy and Planning, Virginia Primary Care Association, Virginia Rural Health Resource Center, and the Virginia Rural Health Association, the conference will bring together health care professionals and administrators; local and state government human service agencies; organizations that work with or represent migrant/seasonal farm workers; migrant/seasonal farm workers area councils; migrant/seasonal farm workers; and others with an interest in improving the health care of migrant and seasonal farm workers in Virginia. Attendees will explore various health care issues and policies that affect the health care of this growing segment of the population. Sessions will be held on these issues: „X Clinical Orientation to Migrant/Seasonal Farm Worker Health Issues „X Medicaid Reciprocity and Portability „X Environmental Health „X Access to Health: Workers¡¦ Rights, Civil Issues, and Issues Surrounding Interpretation Persons interested in attending the conference may call , Virginia Rural Health Association at (540) 375-6563; Arthur, Virginia Primary Care Association, (804) 378-8801, ext. 14; or Rene Cabral-s, Virginia Dept. of Health - Office of Health Policy and Planning at (804) 786-4891. The cost of the conference is $25/professionals and $20/students. After October 15th, the fee increases to $35/professionals and $30/students.
