It works great for me, I take it at least 3 or 4 times a week to sleep and no

doped up awful feeling when I wake up in the morning.

I have taken melatonin and it didn't do anything for me. What helps me is

Valerian Root. Read up on it. Maybe it will work for you.

Hi Lynne,

I tried Melatonin a few years ago....it worked for me for a few

months but, just like everything else I've tried, my body became

immune to it and it really didn't work as well anymore. Give it a

shot though...like I said it helped for awhile and it doesn't give

you that doped up feeling like muscle relaxers or benadryl.

I took Melatonin for a long time for my insomnia. I used sublingual

pills. They dissolve under you tongue. I think it was a 2mg pill.

Anyway, it worked wonderfully. I would get sleepy within a half hour,

and my sleep was very natural. And I didn't wake up the next morning

with that hungover feeling. I wish I was taking it again, since my

insomnia is back, but I have no extra money to afford supplements

right now. I should note that during my use of Melatonin, I was also

doing meditation at bedtime to teach myself to turn my brain off at

night, and taking calcium at bedtime as well. Calcium is a good sleep

aid as well. But later, after I got my sleep schedule down pretty

good, on those occasional sleepless nights, just using a melatonin

was enough. And I always felt like I was achieving deep sleep when I

took it. I should mention that my brother tried it, and Melatonin did

nothing for him. So, it seems to be different for everyone. I hope

Melatonin is not meant to be used for more than 5 days. It was

originally prescribed as a cure for jet lag.

I was told by a hi-health employee that it was a wonder cure, but it

wound up doing more harm than good. My suggestion would be to try

trazadone, it doesnt seem to have any side effects and its not

addictive.

Hi group,

I sent the link on melatonin and Alzheimer’s to my sister.

Her husband is in early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s, and she is going to try

it. She found this one:

He’s had a lot of trouble with confusion late in the

day – they call it Sundowning, and this link says that melatonin can help

I was talking to a friend of mine about my sleep cycle problems and

she said she takes melatonin (and magnesium) before she goes to bed.

We have melatonin 300 mcg in the house so after I got off the phone

with her I read the the label on the bottle and it said not to be

taken if you are pregnant, nursing, have nerve or organ diseases, or

are taking drugs that are psychoactive, neuroactive, antihistamines,

anticonvulsants, sedatives, or narcotics. Since I have PSC and am

taking Keppra anti-seizure medicine, should I not take melatonin?

Before I started having seizures, I tried Lunesta and Ambien RXs for

sleep but they had undesirable side effects.
