My doc tells me that this is what fibro is all about. We may not have MORE

pain than a normal human being, but our brain tells our bodies to react

differently to that pain than a normal person would. So, something that

would not normally really hurt a normal might really hurt someone with fibro

because our brain signals are different.

My skin sensitivity is the fact that I feel like I have a sunburn. It burns

like I had been out in the sun for hours.

Speaking of sunburn, a mother was put in jail on 15,000 bond for keeping her

children out in the sun too long. There were 3. One was a baby and the

others were below 4. The doctor said that they were so red that they looked

like lobsters, is what I remember him saying but I have a bad case of fog

right now so I won't swear to it.

Anyhow, I guess she will go on trial for child endangerment and rightly so.

Missy, you are sooooo right here! The brain transmitters are faulty in fibro

patients. They send of the message that we are in pain when we shouldn't be.

So our brain tells us that there is more pain and it is comparable to two to

three times the pain someone else would feel. There are some newer studies

that are proving much of this hypothisis, but until the medical community is

willing to admit they don't know it all and what they don't know is hurting

us, we are up a creek in getting sound medical assistance from most in the

medical community. They started out saying the same thing about fibromyalgia

as they said about AIDS. That it was a waste basket dx and the patients with

the complaints of symptoms which later came to be AIDS, were only in need of

head doctor and change in life style since most were gay at that time. Now

they even teach in medical schools that fibro is in our heads. Won't they be

so amazed when they do really prove it was all in our heads, but not the

emotional part of our heads, but actually in our brain? So they will prove

they were right, but oh so wrong! In MRI scans they are proving things

different about our brains and with the substance P factors someone might

just get a clue at some point, but will it be after a lifetime of hell for

some of us?

My upper top right leg does this ever so often including right now. What I

have to do to break the cycle, is hours of accupressure (all the way down to

my foot) for as many days as it takes. Right now there isn't a lot of good

TV on to keep me busy while doing this but I do a bit at bedtime or I would

never get to sleep.

Missy,

Yes my doc tells me the samething..she said since our nervous system

is so overloaded with the constant message that our body has a constant pain

somewhere (not including the butt...eheeehee) that our body reacts soo much

differently to these constant messages.

--There was an article in my hometown paper about it. I think the

charges were lessened and the cop who arrested her saw the kids at a

fair and thought they were more burnt than they really were. Probably

red also due to heat. The hospital first said they had second degree

burns then changed it to first degree. The judge decided it wasnt as

big an issue as first thought. I do think she got charged with

something though.]

Hi Allicia,

For years it was thought that CFS was a result of a

compromised immune system. More recent studies suggest

that it may be a result of an over-active immune

system. In essence it appears that CFS sufferers

immune systems act much like someone firing a weapon

in the dark with no idea what they are shooting at.

Also because there seems to be a link between viral

infestation (mycoplasmas)that may impact the nervous

system, there is samll wonder why many of us have pain

that can migrate.
